Fishing in the rain this weekend

I always do good fishing right before a storm and into the rain a little bit however it looks like its going to be raining all weekend long. Are there any general rules you guys follow when fishing in these conditions? I would assume since there will be lots of clouds the fish wont be hunkered down under docks and weeds and would probably be more likely to roam around. I was thinking targeting large flats with some submerged weeds would be a good bet this weekend, Ill probably use faster moving baits looking for the reaction strike also.

How do you guys approach weather like this?

a) downsize and slow down

B) downsize and speed up

c) upsize and slowdown

d) upsize and speed up (this is what i plan on doing)

Just curious, thanks

I kind of agree Id start with some sort of search baits first (swim jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, or whatever floats your boat) to cover water. Im with you thinking the weather should pull them off of cover and get them roaming. I dont think Id start big or "fast" right from the get go. Id start with a standard retrieve and bait size and if that doesnt work then make changes based on those results.

my answer would be yes.....

now is the time where you have to put the Chartruse spinner back in the tackle box and start thinking.

Its real easy to get in to the groove when the fishing is good, but on days where they arent biting forces you to slow down and really think about what you are doing.

We went out this morning and fished for 4 hours. The water temp had dropped 8 degrees with that rain and cold front that came through. Did a little spinnerbait and swim bait throwing to find them then went with the plastics and hit them pretty good. Lots of smaller males but plenty of larger females to keep things interesting. Got off the lake just before the rains came.

Went fishing on Potato lake for the seocnd time this week. Weather has been cloudy/rain. Today it was cloudy, small breeze. Found some bass in shallow reeds with rocks in them. No rocks, no fish. Then I went out on flats and found fish scattered. Lots of casting. Seemed like bass were not schooled up too much in any particular structure.

Just to recap, I did well throwing a slug-go after the rain started to subside. The guys in our club that won it was using a DT4. The following day was much tougher for me but it appeared as though the topwater bite was the ticket, poppers and buzzbaits were catching fish
