Been looking at these evertime i go to scheels and just wondering if any of you guys have tried them and how they compare to shad raps? I personally love shad raps and its going to take a lot to get me to stop using them but the price is rediculous compared to the flicker shads. Some questions for those of you who have used the flicker shads. How do the sizes of the flicker shads compare to the shad rap sizes(preferably campared to the number 5 and 7's)? Also what colors have seemed to be working the best for the fs's? I know when i use shad raps there are 2 or 3 different colors that are hard to get away from to try others, just wondering what you guys think works best. thanks

I strarted using them a few years ago, but the odd thing is on one lake they are deadly the other lake not a sniff. They are similar in size and in the right waters work well but only so far have I found a place they out produce Raps other than 1 lake.

They work great and for the price they can't be beat as an affordable trolling option. #5's run almost the same depth as a #5 Shad Rap...just a tick shallower but not by much.

They work well, definately a bait worth trying if you're trying shad raps or similar baits. Use the same (or similar) color flicker shads as you'd use in the waters where you fish shad raps.

The best fishing I've ever had with flicker shads was trolling in shallow stained water (i.e 4-6 feet) with planer boards ---- the walleyes wouldn't leave them alone.

Flicker shads have been around for a long time but have had a big bump up in popularity in the last 2 years ---- they're almost a fad bait now smile

I really like the #7 Flicker Shads, but the #5's seem to have issues.

1. They go "out of tune" easily, and they are tough to get back running straight.

2. I have had the back hooks come out of two of them so far. A fish will slap it and off goes the hook. I'll admit, I use none stretch Power Pro and both instances my drag was set a touch to high, but I still don't think it should happen. Here's a pic..

I almost use them exclusively now. At least the waters I fish, they are fantastic and never had a problem with any of them. I use only the #5's...I fish (troll)on the shallow side...5-7 ft. weedlines...but also like to cast them up into 1'-2' and work them back with a high rod. They're profile is slimmer than the shad raps and they come thru cover great. IMO, an awesome multi-species hard bait.

Just like any other crank they have thier time and place. Good hooks and colors. I also had a few that the hooks came out of but at just over 2 bucks I can live with that on a few old ones. The newer ones seem better.
