Would you guys use just a hen or a hen with a jake generally? I've shot several turkey, but basically spot & stalk or spot & ambush, with some calling. I have a blind this year, so I plan to be a little more stationary.

The birds will let you know but generally I use a hen and a jake or just a jake. In the first week of season I throw out all my decoys 4 hens a jake and some times a jake strutter the last 2 years the jake strutter has taken a preatty good beating waiting for the toms to hold still long enough to recieve a arrow.

Long and short of it is sometimes 1 decoy works, sometimes 3-4 work, and sometimes no decoy works. They are turkeys and they rarely do what you expect. I go with my gut instinct. If they've been hunted previous seasons with multiple decoys I like to change it up and go with none or one. If I have fresh propery I usually go with 2 hens and a jake. These scenes are when hunting in the fields. I've stopped putting up decoys when hunting the woods cause the few times I put one out in the woods they always scared the birds away.
