Wrap around graph cover.

Just tossing it out there. Has anyone ever heard of or seen a canvas graph cover that wraps all around you graphs. Not the Lowrance or Humminbird white plastic screen covers, I already use those. I'm looking for a soft graph cover that will wrap the whole graph with the plastic covers on. Something on the order of the reel covers that are out there, only much bigger.

Wayne, I have the neopreme "Glove" type cover for one of my bird units. It fits great and doesn't blow off while trailering.

However............It retains moisture within itself. This is not good. I use it while trailering but take it off and leave it off the rest of the time.

I've never seen or heard of a "dust cover" like you're talking about. I'd think you could have them custom made by a tent / canvas shop, or upholstery shop, or even by a local seamstress or tailor --- depedning on the material you want them to use.

I am really NOT a fan of the neoprene covers for the same reason Eric mentioned, they cause condenstation and trap moisture in by your unit. Not good for electronics. You're better off keeping them exposed to the open air in my opinion. I used the neoprene covers on my boat but got rid of them almost right away.

Get yourself a Johnny Ray mount and travel with the head units off, and when you get to where your fishing put them back on. These are far better than wondering if your head unit wil be full of dust or risk it getting hit by a stray rock. The bracket for your unit and male end of the the mounts are all bolted together in one piece, and snap in and swivel as needed. I have used them for years and actually use three... Just my thoughts......

Here's the problem guy's and gal's. I fish everyday. The constant connecting and disconnecting is hard on the connections. If I did not travel on gravel so much I could just leave the units connected on the boat with the plastic screen covers on. So I'm looking at some other options. We have a couple of canvas shops in the area and it looks like that is the route I will need to go.

For travel the friction fit dust cover option will work great. Just leave it off when you get the boat home. I had a Garmin graph that came with one and never had any moisture issues. I only used it for travel. Let the unit dry out when you have it parked at home. Its cheap insurance and will provide better protection than canvas.

Wayne, yes they cover the back of the graph. They slide over the whole thing.

My advice......if you're going to use these, use them only while trailering. They offer great protection but the moisture they hold is not good.

Have you thought aboot using a small anchor line bag to cover the heads???? Or, I know of a few dudes who use auger powerhead covers to cover their electronics on the boat. They work great and fold up for easy storage.

Just tossin more ideas out to help in the confusion. grin
