I had a net made years ago for something similar, you need a replacement bag for a net size of your choice then go to the local welding shop and have them make you a hoop out of round stock, even a couple loops to attatch ropes if you like. Tie 3 2-3' ropes on and tie them in a loop, attach 25-50' whatever you need to this, weight the bag to keep it in the water and you have a net. I used zip ties to attach the net to the hoop.

Look into pier fishing nets online there're special nets for the saltwater anglers that are more or less a round loop with a net and it's attached via rope and you play the fish into the net and pull up. Look up some Florida Sportsman magazine articles there should be something on the www that could give you an idea.

Their nice if you can afford the price, or just make one out of an old net and conduit or wood dowel pounded in the end with a screw through it! wink

I made mine for right around $20.00. I picked up a painters pole that extends out to 8' and got a long handled Frabill net and popped the end off and put the painters pole in about 4" and drilled a hole through both of them and put a pin that has the flip over style lock. It is all aluminum so it is very light and breaks down to 4' in over all length.

Pierbridge would know. laugh He has something around the 30' length and I think Tyler Holm does also. They use them on the river while shore fishing and fishing from high piers or banks like Mill Ruins in Mpls.

We had a thread going about how much "net" do you have a couple years back and they had me beet by far laugh :

Marine General had some long handled nets. One recommendation I have would be drill a hole in the end of the handle and install a wrist strap. The last time I saw my long handled net was when it sank next to the Two Harbors breakwall after I dropped it while trying to net a fish. There must be some current there that carried it off because I couldn't snag it after a 100 casts.

I am from michigan originally and would suggest looking at the more "local" sporting goods stores. I am not sure if I can post the names of the two stores I have in mind. Look up "sporting goods" in Clare or Gaylord Michigan for one of them or "Great Outdoors" in linwood, Michigan. My favorite one is "Party & Bait" in Oscoda Michigan. I have done a lot of Salmon fishing off of the pier in Oscoda so I beleive they would have what you are looking for. You might have to call though.

If anyone knows if I can post the names of these stores please let me know and I will.
