Good luck Cheetah, and don't give up Eric!

Looks like rain for sure Sat, and possibly Sunday as well. As long as it's not lightning I plan to be in the blind though. I have not heard much for gobbling on the property I have access to, during early morning scouting. Hopefully there are a couple of gobblers in the area when I'm hunting. I'm currently packing and can't wait to go hear the spring woods wake up in the morning!!!

Good luck team!

Hey guys, I got one today! Not a huge bird, probably 2 year old Merriam, 7" beard, 11/16" spurs, 15lb weight only.

We put on a lot of miles and got a few birds to respond, only this one would commit though. Also came across a big flock of 20+ birds that were moving through the pines to their roosting area. They wouldn't stop for us though, just kept marching on. Two more tags to fill, have a bunch of birds located for tomorrow morning. smile

Both of my uncles still have tags. Brian has to work this week, so it will be just me and Neil the next couple days. Will hunt through Wednesday morning if we have to. We have some good flocks located.

Just got back, scored a big boy on Sunday. 25 #'s 10 3/4" beard, 1 1/16" spurs. I have all the paperwork filled out and pictures, I just have to see if I still know my photobucket account info. Yes I agree they were tough, my dad hunted up until this morning,(then we packed up camp and came home) seeing birds but he couldn't get anything to commit. I was lucky on mine. I'll have to post the story with pics. 3 birds down for Team 5!!

Thanks sniper, I got them up on the contest page. Story is short cause it happened fast.

Wind was blowing 15-25 mph, couldn't hear a gobble in the am. I was watching down the edge of the wood line where I thought birds might come from and all of a sudden I hear a fighting pur, I look over and this big boy is towering over my pretty boy decoy. I don't know if he saw me move or if he figured something was wrong and he started to walk away. I grabbed my gun (i was in a blind) and shot him about 25 yards out. My biggest bird ever. Some photos below.

Good luck to the rest of you guys yet to hunt, lets keep them coming! They were definately tough in C season. I hunted with my dad and this was the first time he's never gotten a bird.

Hunt hard but enjoy your time in the woods. It's a beautiful time of year!

Great bird and picks I just scored all the birds submited so far and as a team score with 3 birds we have a score of 164.75. Your bird scores out at 69 even cheetahs was 40.25 and frontenac's bird was 55.5 we are the only team with multiple birds registered and the closest team is #3 with 58.5625 now we can only hope to hold on to the lead it only takes one bird with multiple beards and good hooks to take the lead away.

Thanks, I feel real lucky to get this bird, my dad spent a lot of time in the field the last 5 days and while had sightings nothing with a beard closer than 70 yrds. They were definately tough to get close too for some reason this year.

Good luck to all!

From what you guy's are going through right now I really don't even know how it's going to be on the 14th I have taken them before that late in the season but with this warm weather really don't know what to expect I'm seeing fewer and fewer birds ever day out in the fields but I do have my sights set on two big tom's that were strutting for 5 hours on one of the properties that I hunt yesterday.

Went out today to do some filming and help my buddy get his first bird. The wind was brutal today the tom's weren't gobbling but they did come through had hens in and out of the decoys all day got some great video of a tom that came into 3 yards and had a stare down with the jake decoy, he was a adult bird full tail fan and good spurs but must have had beard rought because it was only 2 inches long so he pass we had a bigger one that stayed in the thick stuff and didn't offer a clear shot. Also got some video of a hen that went and nested close by on a fence line. Maybe tomorrow will be his day the winds are suppose to stay down till noon. Also had a rude awakening at 10 this morning I was taking a nap when a gust of wind pulled the stakes on my blind and it flipped over and flipped me over in the chair.

My brother and I just got back from southern MN today. I shot a jake on Saturday morning, and my brother got a nice gobbler today (Sunday). It was tough hunting, nothing would respond to us, just walk away. I'll post the story in the 2010 Turkey Pics thread.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
