Spinnerbait for me, so much you can do with them, you can fish all areas of the water column, fast, slow, erratic. I have caught eyes, gills, pike, crappie, muskie, green and brown bass, and if I ever fished water that had em pretty sure I would add trout to the ever growing list. If I absolutely have to catch fish I am throwing a spinnerbait!

Really can't go wrond with a size 0 or 1 mepps inline spinner with bucktail and firetiger pattern, when going for crappies amd sunfish. For larger fish a size 3 silver bladed with bucktail mepps inline spinner works very well. Have plenty in my box, just with the cost less.

A little Mepps can catch some big fish, too. Last spring I was trying for crappies from shore and I got my #0 Aglia inhaled by a bass that was just about 6 pounds. But my money still goes to the jigworm for numbers because you can fish it a lot slower with success but the Mepps quits producing if you slow it down too much.

Man...sinker and hook hands down. Talk about versatility. And honestly: Is there a fish in a lake that WON'T bite a worm on a hook? If you're going strictly numbers as the poll suggests, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more historically consistent producer than that...

Every thing on the list looked to be more for bass, then a multi-species selection.

My best multi-species lure is a senko.

bass, pike, perch, sunfish, crappies, musky, lake trout, walleye.. all have come in on senkos for me, and not just singular oddball fish either (except for sunfish, most don't get the hook in the mouth since I fish 6''ers)

Although it is fairly untested for foreign fish species and saltwater, I bet a sinking worm wacky rigged would do well all around the world.

a lead head and twister grub, as mentioned above, is my 2nd choice for all-species fishing, and is even better for MN roughfish than senkos. It HAS been tested worldwide as a good fish producer of all species.

I use a beetle spin, jig head and twister tails and have caught everything in the lake on it. Second choice is a hook bobber and live bait.

I can't remember who said it, but your best bait is the one you have confidence in. It could be a string but if you know you are going to catch fish with it you will catch fish.
