Wish-I-Were-Fishn
If I buy a Minn Kota V2 and add the ipilot, do I need to buy the V2 with Auto-Pilot, or just plain?
0 PierBridge
Plain Jane the I-Pilot is an Auto-Pilot amongst other great things.
0 PierBridge
One down-fall of the PD V2 and the I-Pilot combo is the Foot-Pedal is non-functional.With the Terrova and I-Pilot you get the added benefit of using the Foot Pedal.
0 PerchJerker
I agree with PierBridge, both posts. I think he's right on.
0 Brad B
won't the wireless foot pedal work that you can get for the co pilot also work with the I pilot. You can buy a V2 with the I pilot factory installed but it is $829.99. My question about the I piolt is what if you have a v2 that has the built in universal sonar in it. Can a I Pilot be put on it. 0 Dr Thunder
The best deal going right now is the Terrova with a factory installed I-Pilot. You can read about it and see the prices here: http://www.profishingsupply.com/trollingmotors/terrova.htm
0 walleyewild
Brad B.The wireless foot pedal is a nogo.I just installed an i-Pilot on my PD V2/US2. I thought about losing the foot pedal long and hard and decided that it was not a problem, the additional features of the i-Pilot far out weighed the loss of the foot pedal IMO.Wish as long as it is a PD V2 should be a breeze of an install.WW
0 delcecchi
Yes, I couldn't believe it. I looked in a catalog and the auto pilot and the ipilot models are the same price. Of course to upgrade my 2 year old Terova costs 349.95 or there abouts. :-(
0 BoxMN
Does anybody know for sure if the older MK AP/PD/US motor iin 74# thrust could accpet the iPilot? It is not the old "white and black" looking model, it looks like a V2, but is US1 and not labeled Terrova. Also not the newer 70# or 80# model, though it looks the same. Thanks. That is a smoking deal! 3 Year warranty is a nice perk also!
0 PerchJerker
Does anybody know for sure if the older MK AP/PD/US motor iin 74# thrust could accpet the iPilot? i-Pilot only works with Terrovas and PowerDrive V2s --- ie. their newest motors
0 BoxMN
Thanks PJ, that is kinda what I thought, but I never really see a "V2" defined anywhere.
0 PerchJerker
There was a PowerDrive and now there is a PowerDrive V2, the V2 has been around maybe 3 years or so. V2 is noted on all the motors that are V2s.
0 Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I don't use the foot pedal any more on my older power drive auto-pilot motor since I installed a co-pilot on it, so I'm thinking I wouldn't need it on the V2 either.Only issue would be if the fancy thing quit working there would be no fall back plan. 0 SilverSog
I also have a PD74 AP/US and according to my research the add-on iPilot will not work. Only works on PD V2 and Terrova. Anyway, I ordered a Terrova with iPilot so my PD74 will be for sale. Can't wait to get on the water to try my new set-up!
0 BoxMN
SilverSog, we are in the same boat, so to speak We are going to wait for it to be out a year and work the bugs out on fine people like you j/k, I hope it is flawless from the start. My thoughts exactly. Plus I bet they will come out with a change on the V2 to be able to use the ipilot with the foot pedal.
0 walleyewild
WIWF,When I installed my i-Pilot the i-Pilot connected up to the foot pedal connector, so without totally redesigning the PD v2 I don't think it'll ever have that capability, but with what the remote does and the plain jane foot pedal for the PD v2 I won't miss my foot pedal too much anyway.Just want to get the boat on the water and try the i-Pilot out.WW
0 BoxMN
Yeah, we have yet to even use the foot pedal on our 74# AP, as we just use the copilot remote, and have for about 5 or 6 years now. So that wouldn't bother me. But doesn't matter for me, as mine is too old anyway - LOL - story of my life!!! haha
0 walleyewild
Box,I am just going through all of the different ways that I fish walleyes and pannie's and how this add on will help my boat control and I can see so many uses for the different features! All we need now is for ice out and we'll be in business. That and I didn't get much of a chance to run my Explorer 1825 with the 135 opti after I bought it last year.( I still grin every time I think about the first time I put the hammer down on the beast, what a hole shot).WW
