Well I made it down to pool 4 last weekend and tried out the new i-pilot on my terrova. The conditions were not great. The current would push you about 4 mph. It was breezy too. Perfect for a trial of the i-pilot. pulled up to a spot that I normally will work with the trolling motor to keep close to the spot but with mild current and wind you usually end up doing little trolling paths in a kind of a circle to stay on the spot. I hit the spot lock button and, what do you know, it kept us there. This was with a wind and current in different directions. Next I went up to the damm and wanted to pull up in the fast current and cast into the trees. Normally I would anchor here since the current is 4-5 mph or drift. I again placed it on spot lock and whallah it held perfectly. I tried this in several areas and all went well. I was truely impressed with it. Judging from the chart plotter in the boat the spot lock controlled to +/- 5 feet in all situations I tried. The back of the boat will at times pinwheel but that has to be expected and also happens with a anchor.
I only used the auto pilot and spot lock so I have yet to see how the record/follow path or cruise control function.
