NEW TFO RODS

Good news.... Temple Fork Outfitters will have a booth at the Northwest Sports Show and everyone will be able to check out the new rods. They're absolutely awsome.

I don't see their name on the list of vendors for the show. I hope they do come so I can check out the Loomis rods. Hopefully they are better than the St. Croix mojo's.

They definitely will but I am scared of all these 100 dollar rods now since I jumped on the bandwaggon and bought a few mojos last year. Needless to say all of the mojos are now sold due to lack of performance.

What, in particular, did you dislike about the Mojos? I don't own any, but the ones I have handled in the store seem nice enough.

Big, Bulky, Heavy, tip heavy, lack of sensitivity, didnt like the action. The problem is when you get used to fishing higher end stuff like G Loomis IMX rods and Shimano Cumara rods it is very easy to understand why these cost as much as they do compared to a 100 dollar mojo.

Where did you get that info? Didn't see anything like that on their HSOforum.

Just google (tfo fly rods) click on Conventional Rods. Oh, Wait it says, TiCr2.

I do not know of many 2-3-4pc rod that fish as well as a one piece rod.

As for a Bass Rod, I don't see much that you would like. There are only 3 casting rod under 8' long and two of them are three pc.

Now the TFS 703ML (7' 3pc medium light) and the TFS 603UL (6' 3pc ultra light) have me thinking I need a new rod for fishing small rivers.

I have to wait until the sports show to check out the TFO bass rods. I have had some bad experiences with ordering rods online before I have held them. They looked nice online, but totally different story when I actually held them.

Got to check out the new TFO "Loomis" rods at the sports show. At first glance, they looked nice with the split grip and gold trim. I grabbed a 7'0" medium powered rod off the show rack and started to fake cast. The rod felt real crisp and had a nice soft tip but... it felt a little heavy for a Medium powered rod. So that's what turned me off from picking one up. When I got home I went on to the TFO HSOforum. They have the 7'0" medium powered rod listed at 4.7 oz. For some, that's okay. But for me, I prefer a lighter rod. Nevertheless, the rods looked great and would be good for heavy duty jigging and much more.

... it felt a little heavy for a Medium powered rod.

I got a ML version and am glad I did. Seems a little heavier than I thought it would be, but I am glad it is because I was worried it'd be too lite.

Keep in mind these are $100 rods. You can't expect them to be as good as $250 rods.

I haven't landed anything on mine yet, but have been pleased thus far. If they'd open up the landings on P2 again, I could get some action on it smile

The rods do seem a little heavier than most but what I liked about them is they load high on the rod and still have a really fast action. I wouldn't hesitate at all to buy one if I needed an additional rod. Wait a minute, did I say needed? must be getting old.
