Scott M
I remember reading before Super Bowl XLI that Peyton Manning had never won the big game. Not in high school, not at Tennessee, and not at the pro level. Everyone remembers that the Colts went out and beat a weak Bears team to win their second Super Bowl Championship. This morning I read some interesting comments in an article, and it nearly swung me back the other way. If Reche Caldwell had made an important catch in the AFC title game4 years ago, would Manning have a championship? What if the NFC had a decent team playing?Worse playoff interception of the year by a quarterback not named Brett.

zepman
Great regular season q-back and team but a 9-9 play-off record with the teams he's been on has to be disappointing. Most of those play-off games at home too. He's a great q-back...no doubt...but so was Marino.....He's lucky he got the Bears when he did. His window is closing very, very fast! solbes
I'll step up and defend the Bears. There are no weak opponents at the Super Bowl level. You have to beat 2 or 3 of the best teams in your conference to get there. I don't think you can take anything away from Manning's first SB appearance and win.And I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better QB in the league today. You might get some competition when you go back to the Montana, Marino, Elway era, but even then he compares well.
Coach1310
This whole thing about blaiming QB's for just about every big loss and praising them everytime their team wins is ridiculously overblown if you ask me. If the yahoo on the onside kick just recovers it, the Colts win without a doubt in my opinion and we crown Manning the best ever! But, he doesn't, they give up a score, go into a shell and he throws a pick six late and now he is a bum!The bottom line is we have so much media hype with ESPN, sports radio, internet blogs, message boards, armchair journalists.. etc. etc... that we have to react to everything like the world is coming to an end.All of these QB's people try and crown the best ever are in the converstation because their teams we comprised of some great players and put them in spots to succeed. You put Dan Marino with the 49ers instead of Montana, Marino wins just as many superbowls as Joe in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, the greats are the greats because they are talented, but their teams did just as much to put them in the "great" category as they did.I think Peyton needs to consider restructuring his contract to allow the Colts some more cap room. They could use a few free agent upgrades...I'd take Peyton any day of the week on my team!

FISHINGURU
You put Peyton on the Vikes and we go Undefeated and win the Superbowl, thats if we wouldn't rest our guys.Man I'd love to see Chilly on the sidelines just boiling with all of Mannings audibles, cool thing is Manning is like a coach so it would cover up most of Chilly's faults.
