Retractable roof on new stadium

They also cant compete, and there is never anybody at their games.

Wrong. Sorry, lived there and they don't sell out every game, but as a percent capacity comparison between the K and the Dome, the K is more full on a daily basis. The Dome fills up come september, IF the Twins are on a run. KC fans are not near the bandwagon fans we have here. Sorry, but true. Go to the K on a tuesday night in may, and then the Dome on a tuesday in may, the K will be more toward capacity than the Dome. i am all for a roof on the new place, this is Minnesota and april, early may, late september and october are going to be brutal here.

And yet the Royals have been player there since 1971. They love their ballpark and are not bioching about puting a roof on it. Go figure.

They were told at the Truman Complex if they ever wanted to host a Super Bowl they had to put a roof on Arrowhead. They tried getting it publicly funded and it failed. Hope the Vikings don't think they will build open air, if they do they can kiss any aspirations of hosting the Super Bowl ever again away

I'm only guessing here, but I would guess that most who are posting on this topic are males under the age of 50. Most baseball fans that age and gender will sit or stand in 40 degree temps for a ball game. Females, kids and the elderly-well thats another story. Charter busses from out of state and greater minnesota may not be as many. With the team the twins have and a new stadium the attendance should exceed 2.75 million this year unless weather has something to do about it. Time will tell.

Well a lot more people went to the Dome to watch games in the last 10 years, then they did in Kansas City.

Just last year, KC 1,797,887, Twins 2,416,237. The games I see there on TV after June, there isnt even anyone in the seats behind home plate. The game I went to down there, there were more Twins fans then there was Royals.

If the Twins are a good team, they WILL sell tickets, regardless of how many weather postponements there have been. If they put a crappy product on the field, they won't sell tickets, even on the nice days in the summer (I too, have been to games in KC and this is exactly what I have witnessed).

I shouldn't be surprised - but I am - by the number of people who complain about the lack of a roof. IT IS NOT GOING TO BE THAT BAD. Those coming from outstate will have to deal with the gamble of a rainout when buying weeks ahead, but what do you think happens in Chicago, KC, Cleveland, Boston, New York, San Fran, LA, Cincy, Pittsburgh, Philly, etc, etc??? Holy cow! BUy some decent raingear and have yourself a good time.

If you just can't handle that, I'm SURE our beloved Swarm will be right in the thick of an NLL West Division playoff push!! Good stuff...Knock yourself out and be guaranteed to stay dry and warm.

You bet there are more Twins fans there, its an easy drive to a beautiful stadium. Chicagos just as far, but the traffic is alot lighter, easier to get around, and hotels are cheaper in KC. Fact of the matter is Twins AND Vikes fans are very bandwagon, come aug-sept if they are in the hunt, they will put butts in the seats. KC hasn't had a winning season since 02 or 03 (can't remember which) and before that it had been a long time, yet people do still show up. The Vikes have consistently needed corporate buyouts of tickets to avoid black outs, and they are a play off team practically every year. The Chiefs could go 0-15 and have a sell out on the final game of the year. Royals are 700,000 behind in attendance, yep and haven't seen a playoff game since the Reagan administration, that being said, they should be at least a million behind the Twins- a playoff team almost every year. As far as people not being behind the plate, you're way off, that stadium does well, considering what they do every year.

I can't believe all the people that are complaining about being out in the weather on a hunting and fishing HSOforum. That new ballpark is awesome. ESPN rated it the best game experience in pro sports. If it's hot wear shorts, cold wear a coat, raining something water proof. Do you only go fishing when it's 70, calm and partly cloudy?
