bassNspear
Well they didnt get the big dawg, but got some good talent coming in next year. Well be interesting to see how the talent works out for this recruiting class. According to Joe Schmidt from Channel 5 news, Gophers were #6 in big ten for best recruting class this year!! Interesting, thought brewster was one the best when it comes to recruiting?????

FutbolGuru
Kids want to go play where they will win and be recognized. For the time being, the UofM isn't flashy enough to attract these youngsters. College football is the one sport where I agree that firing/hiring coaches on a regular basis can be a good thing to spark a team. The UofM will have a tough time recruiting as long as Brewster stays in town. He hasn't done anything special since he's been in MN. Good players coming out of highschool recognize this and are not willing to risk their future with this guy. They might be kids, but (usually) they're not that stupid. JBMasterAngler
They also don't want to play for a team that plays in a half empty new stadium where the home crowd is outnumbered by south dakota state fans.
rayguy
The U will be a also ran untill it dawns on them they need a coach with a big name to run things. Look at all the hype basketball is getting because they have Tubby. Keep hiring no names and thats just you end up with. Saw one report which said we had the worst recruiting class in the big 10. One other rated us sixth and ninth in skill players. Where is this hotshot recruiter we always hear about?
CJH
I think he did alright this year. Mid pack rating for a midpack team.He got solid OL, RB, DL, and CB's. Those were the biggest areas of need. I definitely was hoping he would steal a recruit or two, but it didn't happen. He definitely needs to do better, but not a terrible recruiting class either. The AD and Marketing team are just as guilty in letting this happen as anyone else. There is no reason they can't fill this stadium with students every game-day. That's just plain embarrassing. Gophers were mid pack in a conference that did not do well in signings this year. Look at what the top programs like USC are able to pull off for recruits. 5-5star, and 14-4 star.Gophers had 2-4star recruits, the rest were 3star.The whole big 10 only recruited 1-5 star recruit.Pitiful! zepman
I also heard most of the players who COMMITED to USC have done just that...verbally commited. Most have not signed on the dotted line yet as they are waiting to see what comes down as far as sanctions are concerned. The big fella from Cretin is one who has not signed yet..... I agree with that. Most of the Gopher recruits were offered multiple scholarships to attend other BCS schools...we lost a few and we got a few. so haaad
I think the jury will be out on this year's recruiting class until the players get onto the field, which probably won't happen for two to three years at least. But I agree that it appears that Brewster got a few and lost a few. This year he had a few 4-star recruits verbally commit and then switch later on. The last couple of years it was Brewster that stole a couple at the last minute. Personally I think this year and next year will tell us a little more about what kind of recruiter Brewster really is when his first recruits will be sophs and juniors. I would have to agree with this. Most of his recruits have barely touched the field yet because they are just too young. And is normal, many of them have been redshirted. AS they come up the ranks and play in the next year or two, we'll find out if he got quality or not.
