halis

Have you guys got anything to say about the hali spoon/jigs with the dropper? For eyes and perch. I would like to get set up with a good selection of walleye stuff. I used to go to mille lacs with just a silver swedish pimple w/red disc on treble and a couple blue fox rattle spoons for walleyes. I did good but need more to fine tune and have options to give them.

I use halis on perch when they are in a neutral or negative mood. I use red and white euros or just the tail of a minnow to tip the single hook-----they have definatly outfished anything I have used for perch on millelacs.......and tullibees also. They work when it seems like nothing else does and I wont go up there without a few of them. It does work on eyes(just caught a few of them on winni last weekend) but the hook is pretty small and getting hooked up and staying hooked up on bigger fish is tough.

I first used Hali's on Devil's Lake many years ago. They outfished every other lure about 4 to 1 on a negative bite. I use a wax worm and a spring bobber with no motion. Sometimes, a flashy jig in motion will bring them in and the dead stick Hali next to it will get hit. I have several colors, but the chartruse or Firetiger seem to be the best all around on various waters.

Hey Esox are those schucks made around your area? The reason I ask is a guy I know from Spirit Lake gave me about 10 of those a few years ago. He had a different name for them, but they look the exact same.

They really work well though. Caught perch and eyes on them in SD, Brainerd area, Mille Lacs, LOTW, and many other places.

Hali's are probably #2 or #3 on my go-to lure list for perch. Small Jigging Raps are the top of the list, then Halis and Buckshot Rattle Spoons, and then Swedish Pimples. All of these except the Jigging Raps use a short dropper with a treble hook, and usually a minnow head, though at times waxworms or maggots work just as well.

The Pimples used to be #1 on my list (the all-white ones), and I have been having better luck with them again this season, so they may climb in the rankings next month...

I always got a hali of some variety on one of my poles ready to go.

It is almost always my #1 lure when I'm trying out a new panfish spot.

It seems like if they are aggressive they will come in hot and hammer it. If they are a little more subdued they will come in to see whats going on but still take it because there is a little bit of something hanging there.

There are several varieties of it and I try to keep a couple of each one in the tackle box. I have taken a liking to the ones with the little fin at the bottom of the lure though. It has a lot of action when you do the lift-fall.

Are these in any of the big stores that you know of? Where can i find the halis? other then online...

Not many retailers carry them, best bet is search online and buy them direct. Or stock up if your down this way, all the bait shops carry them.
