Who has a Clam X2?

JSK76

Question

I have a chance to buy a used X2 and and would like to hear some input. It will be just me fishing out of it most the time so my concern is, it's just too heavy for one person to load into a full sized truck. Do any X2 owner wish they would have bought a lighter house? Anyone have any tricks for loading it, other then bringing a friend fishing?

I use Otter but have a friend with an X2 and I consider it one heck of portable and likely one of the best platforms that clam has ever come out with . Yes it is a tank but what does anybody expect from a quality unit of this size .Easy load even full, if you bring a plank .

I give the X2 the thumbs up . Nice shack .

I've had an X2 for a few years. I haven't used it more than a couple dozen times, as I don't have a pickup to throw it into the bed. (I usually go with buddies that have an X2 or Yukon). The only downfall was the 07-08 year of the X2 was that they had tear issues with canvas, which was replaced by Clam for no charge.

It is a "Female Dog" to load by yourself, but, well worth the $ for the house. Very durable tub! Especially if you have the hyfax runners on it.

I went fishing this last weekend with my buddy that has the X2, and with 115# of gear, I couldn't even pull the sled on the wet snow. I could only jerk it about a foot at a time, which made the decision easier for me.

I found a new Yukon that is last years design with the better seats and the trap link, so I bought it, it's no X2, but it has every thing I wanted, other then the light emitting top and front, and it weighs 37# less.

Fred was it the original X2 or the new X series.....the original X2 tub is very thick and sturdy and I would have a tough time believing that the tub could be broke like that......I will put my X2 tub against the Otter Tub any day as I am positive it is as strong if not stronger!!

oh I am not accusing you of making it up I was just curious as to if it was one of the newer ones that they have out or if it was the original X2 series cause I was even looking at my tub this weekend and trying to picture how that would happen......take care and good luck fishing!!!

Haha it made for a hilarious picture. My buddy was in front of me and all of the sudden his fish house just stops and doesn't realize it. I figured the hitch broke but when I looked there was nothing attached so I look underneath and I see his heater and propane tank with a bunch of snow packed in the sled.

After about a half mile of driving the guy finally realized what happened and turned around. He didn't figure out what happened until he got off his sled and saw his hitch still there and a big chunk of plastic attached to the hitch.
