koonie
It seems like when an athlete dies at a young age they always have an enlarged heart. Hmmm... Anyone have an answer as to why?
zepman
I think it's mostly just genetics...

TR21HP
Genetics have very little to do with an enlarged heart. It is usually cuased my a thickening of the heart muscle due to increased workload. Thats why you usually see this in athletes.High blood pressure is a precursor to this usually and yes that is why they usually catch this through screening or imaging. Very sad indeed for a young man with a lot of life left.
mrklean
lets hope its not steroid related
TR21HP
Steroid related? Not at 26 years of age. Even hardcore users will last into their 40's. It's an accumulated cause and effect with steroids.
