Anyone have an idea what happened?

Quote:
Jan 17, 2010 - We have awful news to pass along. On Sunday morning, Gaines Adams of the Chicago Bears was taken to the emergency room in Greenwood, South Carolina, and later pronounced dead. The cause of death has not yet been reported.

The fourth overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the defensive end was traded from the Buccaneers to the Bears in October. Adams was only 26 years old

We'll have more details on this tragic story as they become available.

Genetics have very little to do with an enlarged heart. It is usually cuased my a thickening of the heart muscle due to increased workload. Thats why you usually see this in athletes.

High blood pressure is a precursor to this usually and yes that is why they usually catch this through screening or imaging. Very sad indeed for a young man with a lot of life left.
