Weekend Getaway ideas??

BLACKJACK

Recommended Posts

After a long hunting season it’s time to take the wife on a weekend getaway - I'm looking for ideas that you guys have done. We've done a few bed and breakfast places, been to a couple of resorts like the Quarterdeck, just a nice meal at a nice restaurant and night at a motel is good.

Let me hear what you've done that your wife enjoyed. Something within a 2-3 hour drive is preferable.

Thanks!!

Grandview Lodge on Gull, Nisswa MN. She can spend a couple hours in the spa and you can sneak away for some fishing. Then regroup for dinner together. A win / win for both of you.

Looked up their HSOforum, Grandview does sound nice!!

Dude...go to LUTESON! The wife and I got married at the Luteson Resort. Beautiful place, great food and the bar was awesome. In fact, when we were there they were mixing up some home-made blueberry mojitos. And get this: the bartender went out to pick FRESH mint from the garden and had a stockpile of blueberries they had harvested earlier in the year.

Easily the best mojito I've ever had (and I don't even really like mojitos...I prefer beer).

If you like Duluth, I've got the spot for you.

We stayed at the Firelight Inn and had a wonderful time. The rooms are very cool, romantic and cozy, and the food is incredible. Unlike other B&B's, you don't have to eat as a group. Every morning, you get a knock on your door, and when you open it up, there's a huge picnic basket full of warm, freshly made food - just incredible.

Downstairs, there's a library with a huge fireplace, and a great supply of books and videos. They also have a coffee/hot chocolate/cider/tea station that you can go to 24 hours a day and make your own little snack, complete with fresh homemade cookies.

It's right in town, only 2.5 hours away and you have the whole town of Duluth within 15 minutes of the place. The caretakers are top-notch too - Really go out of their way to make sure you have the time that you want to have.

Just do a search for it and check it out. We've sent my sister and parents there for their anniversaries, and they have all come back raving about the place.
