Getting through the last bit

full throttle and very little downward pressure on the auger. if it catches let off the throttle and pull it up, give it full throttle and SLOWLY lower it until it starts to cut just a little at a time. you should get a feel for it after a few holes. if it is really bad you may have to adjust the flighting at the bottom of the auger so it doesn't have as much bite.

The mag 2000 I have rips with no issues, tried my 6" lazer on there again today and it wasnt near as fast... Blades might be dull now. I used to cut 3 holes to 1 with the lazer. keeping the mag chipper on this year no extra wham for lazer blades. Going on 4 yrs with same chipper blade still rippin!

Typically isn't a problem in less than 18" of ice. I clean the hole of shavings when I get close, then when I feel that first "snort" of power as it's breaking through I give it a bit less pressure and be sure to not let the auger turn in my hands. The built up momentum and torque typically punches it right through.
