I think you have one of the best augers out there, IMO. I have one and love it! Sure, it's not as fast as a lot of the others, but I've owned mine for 4 or 5 seasons and have not had to replace the blade or sharpen it and it still cuts great. Everyone else I know that has the smooth blade augers have to replace their blades every year cause they dull easily.

Do you really need to cut a hole super fast, anyway?

Keep it! (Especially if you're only going to spend $300... not too many augers under that price, anyway)

For what you would get for your used one, and what you would pay for your new one, I'd bet you could just buy a new auger for your Mag2000 powerhead instead with a lot less hassle. That's what I did, and now I have all bases covered, for a little over $100. Sorry to hear about your situation. Hope it all works out.

Grainbelter-Yes- all powered SM heads fit all power drills except the new plastic 4 stroke one. Having different blades is what I do also. Chipper is tops for a permanant house.
