coombia21
what can i use to cover the tines on the spear so they dont poke into something it can be hand made or store bought i just dont want to ruin the new fish house and the spear
mnspearingguider
take a 1x2 block of wood the length of your spear is wide, take it to a table saw and cut a channel in it roughly 3/8 deep or deep enough to cover all the tines. then put a small bungie on it to hook to the handle, this will keep it from coming off, or I just wrap my string around it and the head of the spear to hold it on. Gordie
yea what mnspearingguide said or a quick easy one is 2 inch pink or blue foam insulation just push over the tines and your covered
mnspearingguider
my buddy put the pink foam on the end, worked ok, but it froze down to the ice and he had to rip it to get it off, also he pushed a tine into his hand once putting it in the back of his truck, he hooked the the tail gate with the handle. So just be carefull, I took a piece and put a hole in it to slide over the handle so it doesnt bounce on the handle and scratch it all up. THEDOGG
take a piece of black hose the kind that comes on a spool and put it over one end tine and bend it over and put it over the other end tine this will keep the tines from coming in contact with anything and should stay on just fine
Chapo
I use the block of insulation and have had no problems.
GoneFish'n71
I would use that spongy type of insulation with the slot cut in it that is made to go over pipe. Not as fragile as blue or pink foam.
bassNspear
i use a piece of wood that i cut the holes out for the tines to go in!
thedeadsea
i use a piece of wood that i cut the holes out for the tines to go in! Same thing that my grandpa did for my dad's spear. Drill the holes just a little bit offset so the point goes in but has a little bit of pressure on the tines.

TylerS
I do the same thing with a piece of a wood hockey stick! Great idea! Classy, too, with a flair of Minnesota's favorite sport
