Nitro boats - Giving them away!

I also know that a few dealers in the area are considering dropping some of the lines they are currently carrying to pick up Nitro, Tracker, etc...

Nitro gave a big presentation to alot of dealers on how they want to gain share in the market. From what I heard sticker prices are going to be thousands less than what they currently are on there HSOforum and are going to offer big incentives and rebates.

Larson15,

Just talked to a friend of mine who picked up a loaded Z9 for about 3/4 the price of a Triton, Ranger or Skeeter. I have no comparison on the ride or quality of the boat as I've never rode in one but that is a great deal. It takes someone to initate change and maybe the rest will follow and start lowering their prices. Although I've heard orders for the new Skeeter FX with Yammi's 4 stroke are causing Skeeter to run second and third shifts with two molds going full time at their plant and those boats are not cheap!

i think skeeters are cheaper than the other top line glass boats

like warrior ranger and YAR CRAFT

i'm not real familiar with nitro

but i dont believe they make a walleye boat

i think they lean more towards the bassin boats

who makes them any one know

gregg52,

The msrp on the new FX with a 250 4 stroke yammi is 70K!

Now, nobody will pay sticker but that gives you an idea where prices are going and Nitro is at least putting the brakes on this and reducing their costs. As far as Skeeters being cheaper- they are all about the same when you get the top of the line models in each company.Nitro is made by the TMG group - Tracker marine group.

are you meaning the fx model that yar craft has ??//

i understand they are high

which i'm ok with with because that makes mine worth almost

more than i paid for it...lol

and when i bought skeeter was less money than ranger and yar craft i actually had money on a skeeter and changed my mine and at the last minuteand got the yar craft for the same price

70k is alot of money no doubt did you look up the price on a nitro of the same stlye..same size motor etc etc

theres a couple of old sayings

you get what you pay for....if it sounds to good to be true ????

like i said i dont know enough about nitros to say what kinda boat they are... all i was making reference to was i dont believe they have a walleye boat

a boat to me is something i spend alot of time in just bout every

week end probably in the area of 20 hr at least and i want to be comfortalbe..i want boat control..and i want it big enough

to fish in the wind so i can fish when i want I fish bigger water So if you going to spend 40-50k on a new boat you better get what you want so you are happy

i had my last boat for 20 yrs this one will more than likely out last me so it is a big investment I not rich so i make payments and in 3 yrs it will be paid for so its well worth the money to me

i guess just because its 3/4 the price i wouldnt run out and buy one for that reason alone

Not really sure Supercrew, A close friend of mine lives in Missouri and told me about all the news from Skeeter - he is also on the pro staff so it's not second hand info. If you're serious I will give him a call and see what's up.

The Skeeter FX is what he is talking about not yarcraft. I was also told that Nitro might be introducing a deep v walleye boat sometime in 2010. There primary focus is bass boats though. Tracker Marine Group makes Nitro, Tahoe, ProCraft, Mako, Kenner, and Tracker. I actually looked at Nitro before I bought my Triton but fell in love with the X series hulls and got a great deal. I have fished out of a few newer nitros and they are nice boats, definitely fast. I wouldn't put them in the same class as a Ranger, Triton, etc. but would compare them to a Stratos. Kevin Van Dam and Rick Clunn seem to do well out of theres! The Z series Nitros are really nice especially with the new removable console they have. A $22,000 list price for a 10' Z-7 with a 150 optimax is about 10-14 grand less than the list price of a Ranger or Triton. On top of the low sticker prices they are offering up to $7500 in rebates and a bass pro shops vip card that will give you 20 percent off on most items for 2 years. I think they offer 10yr warranty on the hull as well.

I wonder what kind of deal people are going to be able to get on leftover 09's

Sorry but in my experience is you get what you pay for. I watched a non-boater in a tourney rip the passenger console out of a Nitro in small chop on Vermillion a couple years back, he said it just ripped off in his hand. Another time I was fishing in a friends Nitro and reached into the storage compartment for a box and came out with a shard of fiberglass buried deep into my forearm. Last one, I was on Mille Lacs last year and watched a guy from Missouri limp into the landing with the biggest Nitro they made almost in two pieces, the hull and cap separated at the rub rail while running from Garrison to the casino landing. Winds were westerly at about 10, the lake was not rough at all. He said it was the 3rd time on the water with it. By-By vacation.

Sorry but my time and safety are more valuable than saving a few grand on a boat.

Nitro has come along way from the boats they used to make. There are thousands of Nitros on the water and are well represented. Go to any bass boat forum and you will see that the majority are happy and problem free with them. I have seen similar things happen to higher end boats as well.

After owning a Triton and fishing out of other boats it still would be hard for me to buy a nitro. I just hope Nitro sets the pace for how boats should be priced. These inflated boat prices are getting out of hand. The way this economy is they will take alot of business from other manufacturers.

when you talk about van dam and clunn

pros run whatever who ever gives them the best deal

in some cases the pro helps them make a better boat as

in the case with skeeter PARSONs and Kavechis(sp)

bought skeeter to the for front back a few yrs ago

another thing is to think bout do they stand behind those hulls

when warrior first came out they were busting hulls big time to

and they didnt stand behind them either

and still dont think they are the best at standing behind stuff

all though ithink they are makin a better boat

its like i said you get what you pay for and i'm in mine lot

i want to enjoy the time on the water not worry bout watchin if its gettinn windy and time to head in

i was AT THE Yar Craft factory i saw how my boat was built

when some starts beating someone by 10k they are cuttin corners

and in the long run it doesnt pay

I somewhat agree with what you are saying but if a company already has a proven hull like the Z series Nitros that have not been problematic over the last few years and they go into the new year slashing the previous years prices by thousands there arent any corners being cut. Its going to be the hull and quality. My personal opinion is that there is an extreme amount of markup in boats and Nitro is positioning themselves to be on top for sales. What this also does is that it leaves all of there customers left to hang out and dry with resale value. How mad would you be if you spend 40 grand on a new 09 a year ago and find out the same boat but newer is 30 grand this year. Say goodbye to resale value!

i think its the motors that drive the price up

so much evirament friendly stuff goin on them i heard

theres regs coming for them they are going to cost more and really add weight and size to them specially the 4 stokes

what your saying i spose could happen

but ranger yar craft been around for awhile

i dont think some company is going to just blow into to town and take over the boat market with cut throat prices least wise up here in walleye country

they might be alittle more popular in the southern bassin waters

The motors are definitely expensive but they are not whats causing the prices to skyrocket on boats. Motor prices have been in or around the same ball park for the last 5 or so years. The 4 strokes are actually getting smaller in size and lighter, same size as 2 strokes. Check out the yamaha vmax sho that just came out. Same size and weight as similar 2 strokes.

They aren't going after the walleye market, they are going after the bass boat market. I think that they will definitely steal a lot of business. What they are doing is that they are taking this economic downfall and are trying to cut the throats of the companies that aren't doing so well. Bass fishing has gained so much popularity in the last 3-5 years and more and more anglers want to fish club tournaments and money tournaments. The minimum standard you are seeing is a 18-19 ft boat with a 150-200 in tournaments. Not everyone has 33-40 grand to get into a Ranger for this. Now they have the opportunity to get into a new boat with the same motor they would get on a ranger and fish tournaments. What makes me a little irritated is that a few dealers in the area are considering dropping there current lineups to get these.
