Falcon Rods locally?

RK

Recommended Posts

Hiya -

Any board sponsors or local (twin cities) retailers carry a decent selection of Falcon rods? I'm shopping for a new swim jig rod (trying to decide whether to build or buy) and want to take a look at the Cara Reaction Swim Jig rod. I *hate* buying rods sight unseen...so would really like to get my hands on one first.

Thanks -

RK

I wonder why most of the dealers all carry the same stuff when it comes to rods. It is safe to say that MN has a lot of fisherman. I would think some of these rod manufacturers like Falcon, Powell, Kistler, etc.. would have more of a presence.

Hiya -

There's still a lot of regional bias in the fishing industry - it's amazing sometimes. It hasn't changed much from the days when we were buying Gamakatsu hooks from Japan. Up here it's St. Croix, plus the big nationals like Loomis and Shimano. But try to find an All Star around here, to say nothing of a Kistler, Dobyns, Lamiglas or Powell (or Falcon). Yeah, you can order one from anywhere, but especially with rods, I *hate* buying them sight unseen...

Anyhow - the search continues. Thanks for the info guys.

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

There's also the ecomonic side of this, especially brought to light the past year. The easiest way for a retailer to control expenses in a tough ecomony is to reduce on-hand inventory. So, carrying a situation specific non-national rod like a Falcon Cara Reaction Swim Jig that you may only sell one or two of a year is simply not cost effective. As mentioned, you may see a Falcon 6'6" or 7' Med action "generic" rod in a store, but not every model.

That said Rob: If you want to go on a goose chase and hunt one down, give me a ring, I'm bored off my rocker sitting here couped up!

The reason Cabelas and GM are listed as dealers is because of the falcon tackle boxes they carry. Not many dealers up here carry the falcon rods. As mentioned before Cabelas used to carry a few models but not any more. You are better off asking if someone has the model you are looking for and trying to meet up.

You will not be dissapointed with this rod. I have fished one over the last three years and I don't think there is a better rod for the technique. I would be willing to show it to you sometime. Several of the guys I fish with have the rod as well.
