Vexilar mod

It's a very simple mod, I have the cheaper pac that fits in a 5 gal bucket, and there is no where to store the foam float. I just took a 2" long piece of 2" piece of PVC, cut a slot to make a c-clamp. I just use this as a clamp to hold the float on the handle and wa-la, no more flopping float.

No pix, sorry. basically, I use the pvc to clip the foam onto the handle.

I understand what your saying you just cut the pvc down the side and then spread it open to fit over the handle and it stay's clamped on top, then just slide the float inside. I have the fl-18 with a blue soft pack adn just unzip and stuff inside it works great

Does any not use the float? I havent used mine for a number of years and the vex works fine

I use the float, but I do keep the cable taunt so it's not all over the hole.

What Vex pack do you use?

The original round pack, a Genz Box, Pro Pack II, or the Ultra Pack?

The original 6" extension and suspension arms are still available from Vexilar for that pack if your missing the one that came with it. That is why I asked. But maybe your not keen on that either?

But if you need one, they are still available.

I just drill two holes close together, one for the ducer the other to fish out of. In the ducer hole I leave some slush to keep the ducer float close to my fishing hole. I realize you can't do that in a permanent house but it works very good in my portable. It helps to keep your line from getting tangled around the puck also.

I stopped using float a couple of years ago. Prefer the eyebolt installed on my Genz box. Have a couple of different lengths generally use the four inch.

I don't use the float either, seems like I was always getting the hook or fish caught in it. I use the little clips on the side of my vex to hold the cord height and the keep the cord tight along the hole so I don't have to keep pulling it out every time I catch a fish. On my fl-8 I just use a clip I got at the local hardware store and clip the cord onto my vex case to maintain height.
