Best GPS on the ice?

I like my Nuvi 500 alot but the H2oc still comes with for ice fishing.

If the H20c ever dies I will put the Nuvi to use as my full time Ice gps, but I still think the H20c is better for fishing IMO. Its more durable and floats (with my track record for dropping expensive stuff down the hole, thats a huge bonus).

I have an iphone (which has the gps in it) and purchased the Navionics app for it for $5.00. This thing is slick, and although the navionics are not quite up to the standard of Lakemaster it is a great and lightweight tool to get me out to my spot. It takes great pictures too.

is the battery hold it's charge in the cross-over????

i HEARD THAT is the reason why they are being discontinued and discounted at retailers????

My battery life is very respectable (nearly 8 hours), and the battery is replaceable as the other poster said so you could buy a spare. I agree though, I would very much prefer AAs.

I think an outdoor handheld model is better for the ice most of the time, but I would still buy a garmin *if* I were buying a new one. My friends 60csx gets nearly a full signal everywhere, including his basement. My Expedition C (and my Explorer B&W before that) will regularily drop the signal sitting on the dash of my car. I just think the technology has become much better since the iFinder line was released early this decade. Not a bash on the iFinder at all. I've owned 2 of them and they're fine units, but I think the stuff Garmin is now better. The extra 2500+ lakes included on the lakemaster chip for Garmin for the same price doesn't hurt either. I'd love to try the new Enduras, but without lake mapping chips they're not an option for most fisherman.

Never owned a gps before and want to get one looking at a garmin colorado 400i anyone have any experiece with one and how good are the preloaded lake maps in it or on any of the new i series garmins thank

From all that I have read, don't get the Colorado series GPS. The wheel on top for the user interface is bad. It would be better to get the Oregon series. Garmin just came out with Oregon 450 and 450T so that means that the 300 and 400 series should be seeing some discounts pretty soon. I have the Oregon 200 and I love it. The only thing that I would want on it is more memory. As for the maps, it probably would be better to get one without the preloaded lake map and buy the lake map that you want. Much better maps than what is included with the GPS.
