Panfish Minimums Survey

Without a minimum on a lake, What is the smallest sunfish, crappie, and Perch, that will go in the bucket? Measure nose to end of tail. Be honest about what you have kept.

7"sunnies, 8" Crappies, 8" Perch

My min are 8" gills, 10" crappie, normaly 10" perch but lowered my standards this year to fat 8" during ice season.

I used to have 9" Perch as well, but after getting into some fatty's last year and seeing how nice a fillet a fat 8" is, no reason to count that out!!

Of course if I need one or two more for a limit provided I'll eat it all, I will keep a slightly smaller Perch or Crappie. Anything under 7" for a gill shoould go back and WILL go back if I'm fishing!

Looks like we all have the same basic sizes. I do try for 9" crappies but have found several lakes around buffalo seem to have so many 8" crappies, If I don't keep them I'm wasting bait.

9-12 inch crappies, 7-8 1/2 inch gills and perch 9-12

any bigger and they go back down the hole, I released 2 9 1/2 inch bluegills yesterday, I believe that releasing trophy panfish is a good idea.
