Drop trailer frames - Where to get them??

So I've decided I'm going to work on building my own wheelhouse over the next year or so. My question is where do you get the drop trailer frames? I'm not a welder and don't plan on becoming one so I'd at least like to buy the trailer part pre-done. Does anyone sell them like that or do people all weld them up on their own?

I work at the Home Depot in Bemidji and we carry them i believe they are a 7X14 drop axle frame and I think they are about 1,400 bucks, i am sure if you wanted a different size they could order you one.

I saw one at the big chain lumber yard with the blue sign the other day.

I think a 7' X 14' was somewhere around $1499.

I am not sure if these frames will hold up or not.

i'd also check ice castle and any one else that makes them

i saw those home depots ones here in brainerd they looked ok

Talk to a local welder, most of them will custom make the frame for you for under $1000 depending on how big you want it. Not all welders are as good as others though so it pays to look around if you go that way at least around here one guy does a really sloppy job and his frames dont seem to hold up and the other guy makes alot of them and he does a really nice job.

If you get Outdoor News... check the advertisements.. plenty of retailers for them.

Fish house supply or the fish house store... if you google fish house frames you should come up with a bunch.... good luck sounds like fun

So is there any specific frame design that is better than others....ie support bars ever so many inches.....tube size....etc. Anyone have any comments on the drop trailers that are carried by the Home Dep-ot or the Low es stores mentioned before....are they decent or just cheaper because they are made cheap?

If your going to take a year to work on it. You could find something in the spring close to what you want cheaper then now. You just need to sit down and figure all that costs then add 25% for your time cost $ per hour. Or the oh1 Cr@ps that happen.

A great welding shop around the area is Mayer's repair in Farming. I'm sure that they could make one for you easily.
