Guess the 2 guys at GM that I talked to didn't know what they were talking about. He even took the thing apart and showed me "see not card slot". They also mentioned that the 500 didn't give turn by turn audible directions is that true?

Are you talking about the Garmin Nuvi 500, DEFINITELY has a MicroSD slot plus it will give you turn by turn street name directions. I've installed the Lakemaster chip in this unit before and it works great.

It's just about that easy, the only thing you have to do is to tell it what map data you want to use. The 500 comes with a topo map built in, if you install the Lakemaster chip, you need to tell it to use the Lakemaster Data, then you are good to go.

When you go into settings on the Nuvi, there should be a icon in there for Map Data, when you click on that, you will see a list of all map data installed on the Garmin, just put a checkmark in the one you want to use.

Ordering my Nuvi 550 today from Amazon for $200. Will it be ok if it is shipped to my house and sits outside in the mailbox for a few hours?

It will be fine. You would have an issue if it was colder, like -20, but everything on that unit should be fine at this temp. The LCD screen may act a little slow if you power it up right away.

Just wondering if anybody knows anything about the bushnell onix 400? looks like a good unit and the price is nice to any info would be great. thanks.
