The synchronicity in the second image is way cool. As long as they can swim without breaking too much ice, they'll fish. Not unlike anlgers who reluctantly give up the open water walleye season.

Second image is topps! Very nice composition on that one. Nice find too. I remember two years ago finding two pelicans by my house (in Duluth) on November 20th. I've even read about some (immature?) pelicans that stick around too long then get trapped out on an iced lake, presumably their inexperience causes their bad decision making and sometimes they will expire if not rescued If I remember right there was a fairly sizeable group of pelicans that got in that pickle in southern Minnesota a couple years back.

Funny, there's a brace of white pelicans still hanging aroung Lockport. Maybe they no something we don't!
