coffee
I tagged a buck during the rifle season in an Intensive Harvest area. I have a Muzzleloader license and an Antlerless Permit for a Lottery area. Can I take a doe in the Lottery area with the Muzzleloader? 96trigger
If the permit is good for the ML season, you are good to go and shoot a doe in Lotto area. However, I thought maybe, at one time, a ML doe permit was different than a firearm doe permit. But honestly, I could be wrong because I never applied for one. Gordie
the only way to take a doe in a lottery zone with a muzzle loader is with a doe permit this year. no exceptions
96trigger
Elwood, are the doe permits the same for firearm and ML, or are they separate? If you get a doe permit for a lottery zone, can you use it either season? Or is it season specific? He's got a permit, I just don't know if it is season specific. I have the regs on my desktop at work, but not at home. ANYFISH2
A hunter could only apply for a firearms doe permit or ML doe permit. One is not interchangable with the other this year.
Red Miller
Yep....you are right. This is out of the regs. Lottery deer areas. ALL firearm and muzzleloader hunters mustapply for an either-sex permit if they want to harvest an antlerless deer in a lottery deer area. A hunter can apply using either a firearm or muzzle-loader license but not both. If you are drawn, the permit will be valid for that season and area only.I am looking at my antlerless permit and it states "firearms season only" and for that particular block only. So they are different (ML and Firearms)
96trigger
That is what I thought, but was not 100% sure. It is also why I probably didn't apply for a doe permit. If the regs stay the same, I will apply for a doe permit in a lottery area for the ML season in the future. I've taken my two deer (one legal buck) in the managed areas, but would love to take the smoke pole to a lottery area I hunt. Ohe well, I guess its back to stick and string for me. My lotto area is surrounded by stateland. I am not optomistic about getting close enough to a doe on that land to be able to take it with the bow.
