Frabill Thermal Tip Up

Coon

Recommended Posts

I have a couple of them, and they are nice at times because they do keep the hole from freezing up. On real cold or windy days I will use them. Of if it is snowing, these will prevent the slush buildup that you can get in the hole.

But I still probably use the more 'standard' tip up most of the time, as they tend to be easier to work with than the Frabill thermals.

I prefer the frabils. It is what I have used since I was a kid. I have caught in the upper hundred number of pike on them and have not noticed many issues. they stack well in a 5 gallon pail, don't freeze or slush which means you don't have to go clear them out every five minutes.

My experance is similar to Andrews', they do a great job of keeping tip-up hole sets free of ice and don't drift in. They fit extreamly well on a 9.25" or less hole...ok on a 10.25". The no tangle storage factor is a great feature, also can stack in a pail, again a nice feature.

The size is great for a pale. I stack a few of them in my pale with enough room for my Vex. Keeps everything nicely ordered.

As far as quality and usability, they work great for me. I've had one instance where I had a walleye on and the flag didn't go off, but it was probably more to do with user error than anything else.
