Chickadee and nuthatch.

Very nice pictures. I like the Red Breasted Nuthatch picture. Since I don't have my bird guide commited to memory yet I didn't know they exist. I have the White Brested Nuthatch at my feeder quite often. I am guessing the Red Breasted must not be as fond of the suburbs since I haven't seen them at my feeder.

Gotta love the nutty. The bg is perfect. I still haven't got a good rb nutty shot. They are few and far between around here. Actually, the last time I was at the bog last winter, I saw just one.

Just need to be further north grin The little buggers are at my feeder all day long.

If it was the one on Admiral Rd, she was the first RB nuthatch to frequent that feeder. I never saw one there years prior. The feeder down in Meadowlands has a bunch of them and so does my yard.

RB nuthatches prefer mature coniferous forests so they are not as common around suburban areas because most suburbs consist of hardwoods.

Fabulous rb shot. I hope to get a few hanging around the feeder this winter.

If nothing else take a road trip north to the Sax-Zim bog and you could get RB nuthatches, boreal chickadees, gray jays, hawk owls, great gray owls, redpolls, pine grosebeaks, American three toed and and black backed woodpeckers.
