Yeah, I heard the same thing from a group in the cafe on Sunday morning. Which direction from town did it happen? The fog sure was thick. I walked out to my stand at about 6 am....it sure was interesting. Later in the morning the rain sure made the woods noisey.

I didn't see a thing on Saturday and only saw 3 on Sunday. Hopefully, rest of the week proves to be more fruitful.

I have not seen a single deer in the past 2.5 days. My dad and I hunt public land so it is heavily pressured. It could be us too, deer scented us, we made to much noise etc. But still we would at least see one per day in years past. Gonna go out tommorow for the last hurrah.

Last day yielded no sightings for me. I have a theory though I noticed that the orchard owner on an adjoining property is dumping waste apples in a big pile mad. Deer could wait till dark go eat some apples and go bed down until dark the next day. This equals no day time deer movement, bad for us hunters. Oh well, spring turkey is only five monthes away grin. Maybe I'll blast a coyote this winter. Cheers

We hunted 343A. They were definitely in the chase phase over the 1st weekend. We saw more bucks than does during the season which was weird. Lots of little guys. Most deer activity was mid morning and mid-afternoon (the big guys we saw and the one I shot were at 2-3 in the afternoon).

There was absolutely no activity in the river bottoms and little activity on the field edges. The most consistent activity we saw was on the wooded ridges above the river bottoms and below the field edges. But nowhere near the numbers we usually see.

We could hear them bleating and grunting in the cornfields as we walked to our stands in the morning. The last day my buddy decided to walk throug the cornfield and he said he saw more deer than the other 9 days he hunted including a wallhanger he didn't get a shot at.

We were going to do muzzleloader last weekend, but after talking to the guys who were hunting our property during B, they said they still weren't seeing anything and the corn was still up so we opted to go to WI.

We're thinking about going down there for muzzleloader this weekend, what are you guys seeing as far as the crops being out?

...should be alot more deer left this year for muzzleloader...

The area we hunted near Peterson had about 50% corn still standing. They were out in the fields working hard to get it down but some massive sections remained. I opted to stay in the woods but a few from our group couldn't take it any longer and still hunted in the standing corn and scored one nice ten pointer and 2 does. The deer are definately using what remains of the standing corn for cover.

We usually shoot in the upwards or 40-50 deer a year. So far we have only gotten 9. It has been slow to say the least. I did miss number 10 on Sunday, but to my defense I was out of my stand "for a break" and a doe walk right down the path to me. Need I say I was unprepared. I got busted, but right as she was getting ready to bolt I shot and hit a branch. No hair and no blood. I tracked her for 150 yards.
