Rod Case Ideas

so from what i see you can buy a gun case exactly like the otter case for $50-60 cheaper...only difference i see is one has an otter sticker on it.

so send me $50 and i can get you a nice case with an otter sticker!!

I have a small gun case from the Big C and an Otter case. If one compares the two, the Big C is not near as nice. Better latches on the Otter and seems to be a harder plastic on the Otter also.

I do use the gun type case for my longer laker rods but if I could purchase a case by Otter for me longer rods, I would.

some people will pay the extra money just to say they have an otter case...i found some cases made out of the exact same plastic and have identical latches...everything is the same minus the otter sticker.

but if your all name brand guy get the otter case, if your a DIY guy or like to find a good deal guy shop around.

I got out my big c rod case out today to look over for my Laker and northern rods and the foam is coming apart and 1 latch is gone.

I had to glue the foam back in to keep it in place and thats not a big deal but I have never had to do that with my Otter case.

They do work but I don't believe they are near as good as the Otter.

I just use those soft cases with the tube for the rod. Got one from Scheels and one from GM at the end of the season last year for $10. They are different colors so I can remember which rods are in each. Walleye in one. Panfish in the other. I have 3 in each and the only problem is pulling them out they get tangled up and I have hooked the padding a few times when they all come out at once. Wish they wouldn't get so tangled up but for the protection and price there not a bad way to go.

I found an old hard shell gun case that is too short for any gun I own, might work perfect for the rods though! Never even thought about that!
