Goals

Recommended Posts

I've thinking about what I woulds like to accomplish photographically in the next year.

1. become a better photographer of course

2. The bird at the top of my list would be the Yellowheaded blackbird.

3. A photo series on Mississippi towboats. I would love to be able to hitch a ride on one and shot every aspect of life on a tow.

I'll trade you a Yellow-headed blackbird for a Pileated Woodpecker. grin I have plenty of yellow heads but the woodpecker along with a Golden Eagle, are at the top of my list. If you want photos of the yellow heads come spring, come on down and I can guarantee you all you want.

Have you got plans in place to attain your goals? I know where I'm headed for each of my birds, but still there will be no guarantees.

X-tackleman,

Come up to Blaine, Mn. I have 3 huge Pileated Woodpeckers making noise all summer long in my backyard. Not at all cautious either, you can usually get 20 feet or so from them before they fly off.

Thanks for the offer X. I wish I could get that pileated for you but I haven't had much luck with then either.

Number 3 is the big one. I grew up and have always lived fairly close to the river. I read Mark Twains "Life on the Mississippi" when I was just a kid and been in love with the river ever since.

But, summer is long past. frown Where do they go this time of year?

They don't migrate.

I see pileated's all of the time out in my area. In fact, Steve and I must've seen 1 or 2 on Friday, eh? I'm sure you could find some up here this time of year...

I like this thread. It would be interesting to see what other animals or birds people are after. Life lists.
