Lowrance H2OC Is not locating me....HELP

So I pulled out some of my ice fishing stuff to get ready for this winter. When I pulled the H2OC out of the drawer, I put in new batteries, turned it on and set it out on my porch because I know it would take a minute to locate me because I hadn't turned it on in 7 months.....WELL after 2 hours the GPS had still NOT located me....ANY IDEAS BEFORE I SEND INTO LOWRANCE?

Thanks!

Try a soft reset. With the power off, press and hold the Pages Button and the Power Button until it comes back on.

If that doesn't work, go into the GPS menu and try initializing the GPS.

Couple other things, make sure you don't have it set to indoor mode, and make sure you don't have it set to require WAAS.

Good luck getting it going again.

I appreciate the advise PerchJerker....I have already tried to do a soft reset...and I even did a hard reset that erased all of my waypoints....BUT i need to check the indoor mode...and more importantly, I think mine was set up to require the WAAS. I will give it a go.

Thanks!

Lowrance will charge you $140 just to look at the thing. I would exhaust all other options or maybe even replace the unit instead. Cabelas has the expedition color for $200 plus free shipping right now. Since you've alreday lost the waypoints it may be the better option. Lowrance is pushing it's new series so I would expect good deals coming up on thr ifinders. Good Luck.

1+ Augusta

I do exactly what he said and its the hot ticket. It has happened to me maybe 3 or 4 times and thats what does it.

Otherwise, make sure your batteries are ok. I have had it where they are getting low but not registering that they are. Pop new ones in and its good to go.

tip_upclyma,

Did you get your GPS working?

I pulled mine out of the bag too yesterday, set it on my truck roof and it would not lock in after an hour.

Plugged the cord into my cig lighter in my truck, powered it up and let it sit on the dash while I drove to town. It found the satellites five minutes after I hit the road.

No luck yet....I just put in new batteries, turned the WAAS option OFF, Intitialized GPS....and NOTHING after over an hour. I have a guy that is going to buy it tonite....so I will just cut my losses and get a new one. THANKS FOR ALL THE TIPS THOUGH! It is great to be able to get advise from fellow fisherman!

Mine did the same thing, worked well for the last 3 years, now it won't lock satellites or lock a fix on the plotter. Explained to Lowrance CS the issue, and they summized the antenna has quit working. While I would like to try another, my Lakemaster chips and Ram mount is another cost I would have to change if I go Garmin. Instead I will reward them with another $162 to repair/replace my H2Oc and treat this as a disposable electronics. I feel a bit trapped, but the dollars don't make sense to change. By the way my brother's same unit did the same thing last May. He is using my 8 year old Garmin 12XL.

Glad Lowrance doesn't make TV's or computers.

Thanks, rmrakt!

After 4 years of flawless service, last night my ExpeditionC refused to lock on any satellites and display my position. Initializing, resetting, nothing worked. Finally, I followed your advice of plugging into the cig. lighter and going for a ride, and it was locked into what looked like every satellite in the sky before I had gone 3 blocks.

SHORT-TERM PROBLEM SOLVED!

Why is the Expedition selling for cheaper than the H2Oc? I thought the Expedition was a higher end unit. This is not just in the B Cave either. It generally is going for less on most the online shops.

I picked up an H2o last night online cabellas for 189$ I'll have to pick up the lakemaster chip somewhere else though, they are out of stock.

everyone who buys all the stuff from this company probably know the used to have great customer service but for home reason they started charging what ends up being alot of money just to get their crappy equipment fixed. everyone needs to band together and demand that they fix their customer service.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
