Lost Doe permit...help?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so the wife cleaned off my dresser and my doe permit is now filed away in some landfill in Crow Wing Cnty. Emailed the DNR and they stated you need to have that white post card on person when registering your doe so I ask how do I get one and there last response was we'll send you another and thats the last I have heard back from them. Sent 3 more emails saying I'm leaving Thursday and how do you know where I live and how do I know it will be in my mail box before I leave? I asked if I could just print out the "winning" information that I read online and no response from the DNR. Frustrate and mad at myself for not putting it in a safer spot.

Any ideas of what I should do?

RD,

Yea, I can't imagine I'm the only one that has "filed" my permit by accident. The last time I had to apply for a doe permit was back in the zone 1 for up in the Two Harbors/Ely range when there was two deer for every 10 miles, I think that was back 20+ years ago.

Go to the mn dnr web site and look up your ssn or dnr# in the deer lottery section and it will tell you that you have been draw then print that page.

yea, I asked to do that but the St. Paul office never got back to me. Went on the DNR HSOforum and for my zone 239 there is almost 2,000 extra doe permits still available I know that has nothing to do with me loosing my postcard but I thought it shouldn't be an issue to just some how print something from the HSOforum and use that since there is excess tags left.

Still no word from Mr. Drotts at the Brd DNR.

I don't hunt a lottery area but I had thought that the postcard is merely a notification sent to lottery applicants that conveyed their success (or lack of) in the drawing and once read is no longer needed by the applicant. It's my understanding that when you register deer you only need to provide a valid license and a site tag attached to the deer. Everything you need to register a deer should be printed off at an ELS agent and nothing more is required. When you register you are asked what area the deer was killed and if you were unsuccessful in the lottery and try to register an antlerless with a lottery area number provided then doesn't the system deny registration and say something along the lines of 'prior approval necessary' like if you try to purchase a trout stamp without having a fishing license endorsement on file first?

Just saw the post. Call the information center at 1-866-646-6367. Licensing can FAX you a replacement. The agents can't help and the dupes don't cost anything. Don't wait until Friday. It's getting busy down there.

Just read your post...I'm dialing now.

thanks,

mr

Does it still show 2000 available for area239, i asked in Dent a few weeks ago and they said all have been given out, will have to try again

I would give the DNR a call at the same 888 number I called and I think you can get one. Where abouts do you hunt near Dent? I hunt just outside of Vergas next to Long Lake and other surrounding private property.

MR, I just got home. Got sucked into some training this aft. Pesky work stuff. Glad to hear it got squared away! I had a feeling it would. I got into this habit of putting the regs/license in the center console of my truck at purchase and then stuffing the permit in there too (if lucky enough). There it stays until its time to walk into the woods. Anyway, Im getting packed up now and we are heading up in the morning. Get a little scout/bowhunt in before the lead flys. Good Luck to all and I want to hear that premit got filled! Be Safe!
