Nolte, I just researched the Sherman draft picks and you are most definitely correct. His drafting was terrible. Remember Jamal Reynolds?! I forgot all about him. Kampman, Cory Rogers and Barnett were probably his best picks. Sherman also signed big money contracts to the likes of Cledius Hunt and Joe Johnson(Sherman's attempt of the second coming of Reggie White) Both good players before they got paid and then busted when they got their raises. Thompson came into GB with a financial mess to clean up and he did it well. Your point of lacking leadership players who would be drafted from the Sherman years is 100% correct. Of the few free agents that Thompson has signed, Woodson, Pickett, Chiller, Grant (for a year) have preformed well. Woodson is an example of the leadership that I think our team needs more of and was a great pick up. Pickett is very solid at his job, Chiller gets better and better, Grant is inconsistent but that's understandable. I do like the philosophy of building through draft picks to a point, however, when the weaknesses are as glaring as they are, you need on the field vets to lead the way. And Vets from teams that have been successful, and share similar philosophies as the head coach of GB would be worth the price Ted would have to pay to obtain them.

Not trying to fight with you Nolte, I'm sure you're frustrated with the way things are going also. We went through a lot of good years with this team and as packer fans expect that same standard. I feel leadership is what we lack most and the ways to fix it are being ignored. Signing Green and Taucher back may help the young guys out in the locker room. Glad they at least did that.

Looks like I was right and you were wrong.

I'm glad the over-hyped NFC east division leader got it handed to them by the Pack, the NFC North second place team. smile

ALL I see from this game is TT and MM have kept their jobs for another year because of this win.

I am glad I was wrong.

If the fools get a couple Offensive Linemen and a couple stud corners in Free Agency and the draft we are right back in there.

I bet the raiders would part with Robert Gallery. That is if he has anything left in his tank. Is he even still playing?

splakeshaker,

I agree, we've been pretty spoiled the last 15+ years. We really didn't have a lot of those "lean" years that teams go through with rebuilding. It was bound to happen at some point. TT & MM get pretty beat up on a lot this stuff and some of it is well deserved, other times it is holdover problems. I know TT gets a lot of flack for not resigning Wahle & Rivera. While both were good players, neither really performed after they were signed elsewhere. I don't think the issue was letting them go, it was not having a good stable of young prospects to step in. Really besides Clifton, we haven't drafted an O-lineman very high for a long time.

There were a lot of draft picks in those years that were pretty easy to forget. grin
