eyemaster
I am getting the camper ready for winter. Instead of using anti Freeze I blew my lines out this time. I blew them out several times over the afternoon. So I am comfortable with the water lines being OK. The concern I have is the pump. How do I make sure I get all the water out of that? upnorth
If you don't you could have problems. Did you also drain the hot water tank? I would still prefer to put the anti freeze in myself, but that is just me.
eyemaster
Yes I drained the hot water heater and ran the pump, but I am still not sure I have all the water out of it. I know all the water is out of the lines themselves.
upnorth
You could just unbolt it, disconnect the lines and wires and bring the pump in the house.
solbes
If you're not using antifreeze, than make sure you also disconnect and drain all sink/tub traps. Really to make it easier on yourself I would buy 1 gallon of antifreeze and split it between the tank/pump and your traps. $3 is cheap insurance. Big Dave2
Yeah like Solbes said already, remember there is water in any drain trap you have so I would think you would want to at least pour some in there. Also there could be some water in the shower hose that connects the shower head to the fixture. I would de-tatch it at the fixture to make sure. Can you be sure there is no water in the toilet? Did you open the flusher while you were blowing out the lines?
eyemaster
I did pour anti freeze in the traps, I have a seperate water system for the toilet, I did put antifreeze in that and flushed it through the system to make sure that doesn't freeze. Thanks for the tips on that.
redseal
I blow out the lines and then run anti freeze through them. Why take the chance for $5....
pushbutton
redseal, think you summed it up the best.
Riich
I'm sure you are long since done winterizing your camper, but in regards to your pump situation, this is what I did yearly when I had my camper. I pulled the hose loose between the tank supply and pump and blow all my air directly through the pump. I did it for years. Make sure you reapply the hose when you are done so it isn't forgotten. The only freeze protection I needed is for the traps, a gallon goes a long way when it comes to those, and then leave a little in the stool. You'll be good to go in the spring.
