upnorth
Yeah Kris it has been pretty quiet from the rod builders lately. I just started a new job and am trying to get a few things done around the house before the snow flies. But I do have a couple projects coming up for sure and a couple more people asking for rods this winter, so I will be posting as I go.But yeah let's seem some custom rods here!!! harvey lee
I also build a few but it has been the last thing on my mind as of late. This winter I do plan on doing a few for myself and others.

Northlander
Kris I really want to build myself some "shortie" leadcore rods but have never built a rod. It would be a blast to have a get together and watch some of you guys work your magic before I jump into rod making.I have a fairly addictive personality and when I jump into things like this its usually all out. Drop me a e-mail and give me some ideas on what I should be looking for price wise to build a couple. I dont need fancy wraps and handles just a well functioning rod(s).Anyone else have "shortie" leadcore rods? What do you have and what are your likes and dislikes? Kris Kristufek
Not sure what you mean by "shortie" but lead core can be a hoot to fish with. I use 7' glass rods for lead, they are very forgiving. Glass rod blanks are much less expensive than graphite, but also less sensitive. With lead and cranks if you can see the rod tip working that is about all you can ask for. You are either hooked up, unbuttoned or snagged!BTW,,, look into taking one of my rod classes. Have 2 scheduled for December. Dec. 4-6 and Dec. 11-13. Both will be at the Gander Mtn store in Baxter, MN Cost is $250 and you could build this rod over the weekend. Plus you will start a addictive hobby.
bemidjibasser
I build too, but haven't turned any rods since this summer...ducks are flying and need to be downed...I am looking at building a couple more crankbait rods over the winter. Northlander
I found just the "shorty" leadcore rods I was looking for at Marine General. Made by Midwest Rod and reel. 5' Glass blank like you said Kris. Sensitive tip section but plenty of back bone. Looks like these will be just what the doctor ordered.By the way they are sold out but they will be ordering more for next spring.
