fishinfey8
I was just looking at some photos from the previous two fall seasons and even though last year wasn't the best, it was all WAYYYY better than the weather this fall. The moisture has got to stop when it's only 40-50 degrees. I would rather have snow and 10 degrees any day. The wind has been pretty brutal as well...Sorry, I had to vent a little. Anyone else notice that mother nature's actions haven't exactly been in the interest of farmers, fisherman, hunters, or anyone that spends a lot of time outdoors? TonkaBass
Yeah it has been unusually wet this fall. I think the fishing has been tougher for most people because the temp dropped from summer to fall overnight and it never really warmed up again! Borch
It's certainly been very wet and miserable this fall or at least everytime I have a fishing trip planned. We had a very dry summer and even though the timings not good at least lake levels are getting more normal. jwmiller33
the weather this fall has been nice at times, but absolutely horrible at others. but then again, so has this entire year. the weather has been funky. abnormal temps, precip, and swings of weather. then throw in how a lot of the state was very very dry, with little rain fail, for the majority of the summer, and then towards the end of the summer we started getting massive amounts of rainfall in a 2-3 day storm. our spring was late, our summer was cold, and the fall was non existent. i'm sure we are going to be having very funky weather patterns continued into the hard water season. i bet it will get cold very early and we will have early ice, but then we will get a warm span of above freezing temps for a couple days, making ice on lakes a absolute mess [all a prediction here]. i'm positive that this weird weather we have been having has been the main reason why fishing has been "off" compared to normal times/years. opener was slow.. it took water temps forever to warm up. and then once they did finally warm up, they were HOT! and now, the water temps have been really weird this fall with turnover going on in random lakes. fishing was never "on" this summer at the times it should have been.. the best times for fishing were right before/in/during/right after these weird weather pattern shifts we had going on all this summer with the swings of high and low pressure. i can only hope that this weather will start acting normal, and give us a "back to normal" year of open water fishing next year... lets hope this global warming thing is not actually happening
Bluegill1510
Ya tell me about, this is fall has been extreme in that all september it was hot like summer, when waters are suppose to gradually cooling from a hot summer, and now october has been cold, wet, and snowy. Very hard to pattern I would say. This fall has been great though with no wind compared to last year and back in 07, but this weird weather has affect my bow hunting as well....to hot earlier and now its either raining or snowing or I'm working till sunset! Oh well like JW said its just been an unusual year period as far weather related. I've only been in the boat once this fall, so I can about imagine how some of you fall diehards are frustrated! Bring on the ICE, I have to much work & hunting to do!Another note: have you guys noticed for late ice and into spring time fishng....how the last 3 seasons there have been so up and down or down right horrible with consitant weather (warming trends/temps)? Just like this fall?
gunflint
This fall is wet all right but it doesn't seem as windy as last fall. I'll take the rain over the wind. For fishing anyway.
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I'm taking up crocheting. It's not at all weather dependent PLUS you can sell the wool mittens to the poor souls that actually try to go out in this stuff.
