Mapleton MN???

Hey i just got a call from my buddy who got some permission on some private land in mapleton mn, which i believe is south east of kato. Has anyone hunted down their, what can i expect? we will be hunting the first monday after gun opener and help would be great thanks.

I think I hunted their isn't that one of the towns on big buck hunter game in the bars.

My wife is from Mapleton. Lots of open, flat farm fields. Most deer habitat will be fencelines or small creek bottom areas. Just my observations, I've never hunted there.

You're right, it's 16 miles south of Mankato.

Any idea who the land owner is? She probably knows them.

i grew up about 20 min from there lots of fields, open areas, some rivers can be a great place depending on your neighbors

im from mapleton.. expect alot of idiots out driving around and alot of deer being pushed around. alot of the movement is due to the pressure, nothing natural. river bottoms are good, fencelines, small groves, look in the thick stuff. what direction from town are you hunting? whos the landowner, i probably know them

i will find out his name super nice dude mid 20's he is not a hunter but the guy leaded us to some good duck hunting on the minnesota so i will give it a shot if i dont shoot a big boy way up north in wanaska from what im told its a heavly wooded property with fields surrounding it prefer to hunt fields but i know how the deer love the woods when the pressue is on is does the MN river run threw that area? just excited when i saw that monster shot in the rochester area which is close by a hunt in S. MN will be a new experiene for me im use to huntin the metro or the border of canada!

Hunted on the big cob river my whole life, just 5 miles from Beuford. Which is only 5 minutes from mapleton. Our party gets nice bucks every year. All depends on the crops!

ahhh yes...the big and little cob rivers. A few dandies roam those haunts.

the MN river runs through mankato but if your hunting the mapleton area, im guessing youll either be hunting the Big Cobb, Little Cobb, or the Maple River river bottoms or near them

Ive been hunting near mapleton/pemberton my entire life along the little cob and le sueu. can be a good area for multiple species but there are a lot of idiots driving around looking for an easy kill. make sure to have a beer at the windmill.

Mapleton and Rochester are not as close as ur thinkn. Ur hopes of seeing a buck as big as the one ur referring to are alittle high, sorry to inform you. But good luck!

BucksnDucks has it right. rochester is a hour and a half east of mapleton. way different country, rochester is more hilly and mapleton is flat _____________. in the river bottoms and stuff youll find a few hills but for the most part its flat but more towards good thunder and beauford its a little more hilly. hate to burst your bubble but dont expect to get a huge one, youll be lucky to see one, theres a few out there but dont count on it but good luck.

oooh gotcha. but yeah i know them too somewhat. i worked at protein sources (the feed mill) for 4 years and my dad works there too and thats where they get their hog feed and other stuff
