abu garcia?

ok. so i just won an abu garcia revo (s-series)

and i was wondering if anyone has used this reel. what do you think about it?

I have one and like it for what little bass fishing I do, I mainly use it for casting X Raps for eyes though.

Well I've used lesser Abu baitcasters and had good luck with them. Your initial opinion will probably be based on your experience in handling a baitcaster. As Esox mentioned my favorite use for them is casting stick baits, or more generally baits that tend to foul when casting them with a spinning rod. Otherwise pitching jigs when you need precise casts is another good application.

Never hurts to carry the extra rod as long as u have the room for it.

I have a Revo Premier that just doesn't want to give me a break (it does give my lines plenty of breaks though).

i have a premier as well (also won from that site) and i love it! it has withstood so much abuse , but it still works like a dream. though the insert where your line comes out, sometimes comes out when i cast. but thats it

My budddy has a Revo S, looks like a solid reel but he is always breaking his line on the cast. tried differant lines and differant rods but the line keeps breaking so i assume its the reel. I learned how to use baitcasters on shimano and don't really feel the need to expand my horizon at this time so I probably wont be switching anytime soon.

BPaddict - give Pure fishing a call there customer service has been amazing for me in the past - covering shipping - warrantying things that no longer were covered by warranty - throwing in spare parts etc - pick up the phone and they will make it right

Jake as far as your reel- i would probably sell it and buy a t-shirt but really i would probalby sell it and spends some money on a little better real - that is definitely their lower end of revos - that is just one mans opinion coughcuradocough

my premier has never done that. sounds like he may not be setting the braking systems right. making it backlash, and stop suddenly. a shock like that, depending on the size of lure you are using, would definately do it.

as for the S. i was looking at the reviews on cabelas, and bass pro. and i will be keeping it, at least for a while to see how it works for me. from what i have read, its actually very good

Yup I've tried all sorts of line and they all break during my casts at some point in a day. I got the first one on HSO-Classifieds and sent it to Pure Fishing for repair. They sent me a new one but it was doing the same. Sadly no replies this time.

maybe that's why the new Premier came out that soon.

I got two and like them alot. Took a day to break em in but they work great. Almost like them as much as the old green curados.

Don't get me wrong I love my other Abu (Winch)...fact it's my favorite baitcaster. It's just the Premier that really didn't ever sit well with me...or my lines.
