looking for a new shack-------looking between the clam,kodiak and the frabill,commando---------kind of undecided which way to go--------they're both about the same money

My uncle has a frabrill and its easy to set up and has the sled on it. 3 man one. Has a lot of front leg room too. Never have been in the other ones.

I like what Frabil has done with their houses in the last couple years. If I was in the market for a new house I would go with them.

I was told today that Clam isn't going to have the trap link anymore and also are discontinuing the thermals. Not sure about their thinking is behind those decisions.

Well, if they are discontinuing the thermals they are doing it next year. They brought out a bunch of new thermal portys.

I didn't notice the traplink being advertised by them anymore so I guess they did get rid of that. That's too bad. I really thought the traplink was a great idea.

Both Clam and Frabill, along with the other shelters on the market make some great stuff now days. Competition is great for this!!

With your selection, with the Kodiak, you will get a bit more usable space in front of ya. But, comes with a little bit more weight too. I know for myself and clients I have, the little bit more useable space is always a plus. Makes it a lot easier not to feel too crammed up and allows for some good set-up of flasher, heater, etc etc out in front of ya.

But, each is a good shelter and will get the job done. Good luck with your choice!!

Oh, and the Thermal line is not gone from Clam. A few of the shelters got a Thermal top to them as well this year. Even a thermal pop up shelter.

I have a Frabill "Commando", love it, there are a few Tweaks I came up with to really set it up for top efficiency and convenience on the ice...if you get one, drop me a line, I'll fill you in on them.

All good options...I would add look at the new Frabill "Trekker mode 6127 Excursion"...it offers a new spit bench seat...70x50 front fishing area...weight #100.

If I were to buy a frabil I would either go with the Guardian (which is new this year and has a 600 denier tent) or a Predator(900 deier tent. The Excursion is only a 300 denier tent. of course the heavy the tent material the higher the price. $399.99 Excursion, $499.99 Guardian, or $649.99 Predator of course the are all 2 man house as for the one man houses from frabill I would choose the Commando over the Recon DLX because for the extra $100.00 you get more space and a better seat with only the addition of 11 Lbs more(commando 59Lbs vs recon 48Lbs)
