There have been a few times that man has been packed with snow and or ice and the only way to get it lit was a lighter. I use one of those long reach ones you use for the grill. A match will work just fine.

Buddy heaters have a built in piezoelectric igniter.

My sunflower as a ignitor, my cooker doesn't and I light it with a match. Wish it had the ignitor though, they are a lot easier to light that way.

I lite mine in the stand yesterday with the push button because I forgot to bring a lighter and man it was LOUD like 22 going off!

Maybe the real early models, but they all come with or without it now depending on the model you chose...the spark-light runs a few bucks more on every model sunflower type Mr. Heater.

Look for the Spark-Light sticker on the bottom corner of the package...that is the tip-off.

FYI: On the NEW 2009/2010 Little Buddy heater, they upgraded the Piezo lighter system, also changed the handle to a folding handle, and the regulator swivels out to make bottle and/or bulk hose hook-up way easier.....the ceramic is taller now too. Very good upgrades to that model as I see it. $79

Yeah the one my dad has does not have piezo on it, but god knows how old that thing is. I am 34 and he has had it as long as I can remember
