The Reservation Book is open

Recommended Posts

Patsy has decided to start taking reservations for the fish houses. Everything is the same this year as it was last year. Same price, same check in/check out. Good fishing everyone. smile

Its nopt all the same, we have lots of new stuff. Like soft no slip rubberized flooring on top of the insulated floors, we added another big house to the line up and we remodeled the little two man house making it the big two man house...I had a double hernia repair and Kelly has a freshly healed ankle. Even the operators had work done. See lots of improvements and repairs. grin

the last 2-4 years there seems to have been fishable ice out to about the first break or so 1-2 miles out......good walleye and pike action in begining to middle december but it all depends on mother nature......there usually aren't many sleepers out at that time though.....

Was out around Christmas last year and had a AWESOME time watching the wife and kids and a uncle catch more fish than I could handle at one time. The two times around Christmas I was out I felt like a guide, Baiting hooks, taking out hooks, untangling lines, cleaning, and cooking fish. But the smiles on everyones face as they were realing in the fish was PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ozzie called it about right as far as early ice. We usually don't pull the big sleepers out until X-Mass time. A low pressure system with some snow and wind coming across the lake when there is only 12 inches or so of ice can make things real ugly and really scary really quick. Depending on the weather and ice we may pull some of the smaller sleepers out to the breakline a little earlier.

Hey we are heading up on the 19th of Dec and was wondering if you had openings for a group of 5 for that day.. around 1 or so we will be getting there. just thought we might try our luck there one night... not a sleeper, just a house for half a day.

Kelly - Question for your outfit. We have come up for the past few years with our wheelhouse's. This year we will probably have more people than we can fit. So we are thinking of using an outfitter for the overflow. Are you ok with us getting a 4 - 6 person house, and then having 2 wheelhouses in the same vicinity? I have read your posts for years (and finally met you last year on the ice) so I know we do not want to be right on top of each other. But within running distance would be nice.

If that is not a deal breaker, we will call Patsy and make a reservation.

Thanks!

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
