paul pachowicz
would be kinda cool to have one rigged up to puff out a red dye like banks do. If you don't know how to disable the dye pack, ya get it in the face if ya tamper with it. Take the pic and POOF...red faced.
96trigger
Quote:How bout one of those cameras that sends the pics to an email account? You'd have 'em on camera every time!!! I would much rather take the risk of having them take a cheap camera and get away with it, than put up a $400 camera and take the risk of still getting ripped off but maybe being able to get a picture. I'd be too worried that maybe I wouldn't get a clean enough picture or something like that.
CodyDawg
Ya know, a secondary benefit to this thread is that it is getting read enough that people are seeing that there are so many cameras out there they better not steal things. Like the guys with the duck boat, I bet their stealing ways are changed a bit. Not that any FM readers would steal, but they will spread the word to those who would! And man, talk about embarrassment. How would you look your wife/family in the eye after getting busted stealing something by a trail cam. There aint no [PoorWordUsage] story you can make up to get out of that one. Ohhhhh, I hate thieves.
Mr.Seaguar
On the dye issue, put out one that doesnt work. Its just there to puff somebody in the face. It would be pretty funny to see someone with a purple face. My moms cousin robbed a bank and he and his accomplice got caught in the river trying to wash it off. DTro
I bet you could laminate a card and tape it to the camera that says, "This camera just sent X images to my email account and cell phone...think about that before you steal it"
bigtgravez
Trigger...I don't post on here often but to see a fellow PEM hunter get ripped off sucks. I have a spare camera that you are welcome to use for the season if you'd like. I'd just need to pull it out of the woods first. If you're interested, drop me a line at bigtgravez @ hotmaildotcom. Since you spoke so kindly about our town, it's the least I can do. Go Dogs!BigT
96trigger
Thanks BigT. The place I put it is a fairly high risk area. I have never had trouble there before, but once it starts, I'm sure they will be back. I would feel terrible if your camera got ripped off. I still have one on private land in Theilman. I just have to check it. I don't need to put another camera there anymore this year. I already know whats out there. But I really appreciate the offer. PEM is a great community, I love it here. Great school, great people, great kids. Thanks again.
96trigger
A huge thankyou to the Bluffland Whitetail Association for donating a game camera to the PEM whitetail Association. They are a top notch organization. The kids really enjoyed the guest speaker and I think they may have learned a thing or two in the process. If you get a chance to pick up a Plainvew Paper this week, there is a nice article about. Thank you again.
Deerstalker
To the person that took my trailcam off the private property bordering whitewater wildlife management area in Plainview:The on/off switch on the camera is touchy, sometimes it won't turn on or off. I usually removed the batteries to reset the camera. Its a pain in the but, but it usually works. It goes through batteries like no other, you will only get 2 weeks worth if you are lucky. The trigger speed is prett slow and the flash doesnt reach very far so it helps if you angle the camera down the trail and have a backstop. You know, like I had it pointing down the field drive between the woods and the corn field. I hope you have great luck with it, and thank you for leaving my stand. i always love that one.
