JesseParker1
I am planning a trip for the fiirst week of October and I wanted to get some imput for the pros...I have been thinking of Mille Lacs, Leech, or Vermillion for a 4 day weekend trip and wanted to know what you guys think. I know they are all large areas of water but we will be humting for ski's and maybe a walleye or two. I know that Vermillion is a long haul so if you could give me any recommendations I would appreciate it!Thanks,Jesse

10,000 Casts
you can't go wrong with any of the 3. To me Mille Lacs is probably the easiest to fish (Rock and weeds) out or the 3 and I have heard that the fish have started to go a little bit and we might be in for a good fall. You also can't argue with the quality of the fish.
uplander
If you really want to get away...I say Vermillion...Is there any cooler lake in the state.....or maybe the world...Ive only been there once and was blown away by it...Go get lost for a few days....Oh yeah and the fishin aint bad either....I'm far from a pro...but that's my vote!..Good Luck! JRedig
Vermilion is less drive time than leech...
JesseParker1
really?
Shawn Kellett
If you go to Leech you'll have the place to yourself. Not as high a density of fish as the other two, but when you're the only one fishing for them things equal out. I know that V and Leech are the same distance from my house in the west metro at 3.5 hours. Leech also has many more waters close that you can jump to if it's not happening or if it gets windy. JesseParker1
Thanks everyone! I am kind of leaning towards Vermillion.
Tim_Anderson
If you're going to the big V for the October full moon, just prepare yourself for the crowd. Yes, there are lots and lots of secondary spots and you will want to look for those. But the community spots (rock reefs) that hold literally hundreds of fish will have a non-stop merry-go-round of fishing pressure. If you want a little elbow room, there are many good options (other lakes) for musky and walleye. Not to take anything away from Vermilion... it is a fantastic place to experience and you should. For the total experience (IMO) timing is everything.
JesseParker1
Thanks for the info Tim! I know that there is a lot of area up there to cover. And to be honest with you I have never fished there but courious about the oppertunity to hook into some good fish.

JesseParker1
How have the fish been on Mille Lacs? I hear the walleyes are hitting nice?
DHanson
It's been a really good year at Mille Lacs for walleyes. However, with seasons changing patterns change, so you still have to do your homework to get dialed in.
urban cowboy
I go up to vermilion every year and it is an amazing lake. Feels like the true north woods, canada style. Lots to learn on the V though. Can be feast or famen.
JesseParker1
Yeah that is what I am afraid of. I really would like to go there but taking a buddy who never fishes and I am green to the lake as well.
urban cowboy
If you stick to a specific section of the lake and fish hard you will be fine.
Musky Buck
Mille Lacs without a doubt. Friends had a career season already and the fat fall fish are around the corner.
