Anyone catch MonsterQuest tonight about Gigantic Muskies?

History Channel had an awesome show tonight about gigantic fish and the musky was featured. James Linder and Lee Tauchen were featured to help find a world record musky on Mille Lacs this past winter through the ice. Very interesting show! Their attempts to find a world record musky were unsuccessful however. One dude got attacked by a musky boatside and interviewed the two in the boat that captured the incident on tape. Pretty cool stuff!

I thought the show was pathetic portraying these fish in an improper light...that guy did NOT get attacked, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They put a bad twist on the story trying to make them out to be man eaters...lame at best.

Also watched the show and thought it was very misleading. Talking about muskies as man eaters/attackers should really help the DNR/privite stocking of our waters here in Minnesota. Was also very surprised to see that Lee and Linder who are avid muskie anglers/enthusiasts would even be on a show like that.

From what i've heard Lee and the Linders had no idea the show would be twisted as such.

FWIW, my dad was interviewed on that show for the raptor stuff (which is the biggest lie in the world about that kid getting carried by a bird) and they twisted and mis-used everything he said too, he was quite angry when he saw what aired on TV.

I agree the "maneater"/Gigantic Killer Fish title is a little extreme. Muskies are no doubt an aggressive fish and would bet many of you have been bit before, myself included during a photo op right through a "Fish Handling Glove". The show did exaggerate quite a bit but was neat to see Mille Lacs and muskies in the national TV spotlight. Most of the storytelling took place in the editing room and without a doubt Lindner and Tauchen didn't have a clue what took place when all was said and done.

That kid did get bit by a muskie in Calhoun last year....so the whole man-eater stuff (while blown way out of proportion) does have one grain of truth!

Actually a kid was bit by a toothy fish on calhoun last year, nobody saw it and nobody has a CLUE whether it was a muskie or pike. It could've been an overly aggressive walleye or a really angry bluegill for what anyone knows...

Another poor assumption by a form of media...big shock.

When Monster Quest shows up to make the fish you make a living off a show; you may want to consider their motive before you go kicking your leg scratching your own side thinking about all of your exposure and consider the resource and all the lies its endured for 100 years.

Consider it like this, if you your wife and newborn son with a small birthmark were approached by Devil Baby Quest would you expect the producer to do anything but turn your son into Damian....

If the show wasn't so blatantly stupid I would be (!$$&d
