Wish-I-Were-Fishn
Has anybody else noticed their gmail getting more spam lately?
LMITOUT
Yeah, most of it gets directed to the spam folder automatically, but I have noticed more sneaking into the Inbox lately. Maybe one or two a week now, when before I got zero in the inbox.
Deitz Dittrich
Smashbox cosmetics is about the only one I get almost daily.. but it goes directly to my spam folder.
Wish-I-Were-Fishn
I have an old AOL account that I have forwarded into my gmail. It looks like most of it is coming from there. Now THAT does not surprise me. I hate AOL, but still get an occasional good email from that old address so I keep it. My bad - WIWF
LMITOUT
I'd venture a guess that the AOL is likely the culprit as you mentioned. I have a Yahoo account that is filthy with spam all the time.
upnorth
As spam filters get more sophisticated, so do the Spammers. They find ways to get past the filters for a while til the spam filters find a way to block the new stuff. Same thing with viruses. Cat and mouse games!! Big Dave2
I get a lot of spam in my gmail spam box whenever I post a listing on craigs.
GatorBait
And you will Big Dave. I haven't found out what exactly they are trying to accomplish by posting fake interest emails, but people beware. It's annoying and it's totally out of HSO-Classifieds's hands from what they've told me.On the topic though, gmail is the only email program I've found that is the cleaniest for spam. Unless, I stress, Unless you take part in an internet survey, in which the wife did once and I now have on ave. 60 spam mails per day. My other gmail accts are exceptionally clean going on 2years now.
CAMAN
That is why I have two seperate email accounts. One that I use for anything that could possibly be used for spam. And another that I only give out to family and friends. Most weeks I get over 600 emails sent to my spam account, none that are of any use to me and about 90% get thrown directly into the spam folder. My personal account may get a dozen junk emails a week but they go directly into my spam folder. This method works great, especially when you have your email pushed directly to your cellphone. LMITOUT
Same here. When signing up for various things on the internet it's handy to have a "throw-away" email address. I have a Yahoo account that I use anytime an email account is required for online forms, etc.
