I hear ya Jarrid. Got a call from my mother-in-law at about 1600 that the dock was nearly under water and more rain is expected. I broke out of work a little early and headed down. We were fortunate, still had about 2 inches to spare. The boat bumpers were a little close to being ineffective. The neighbors next door already pulled their sections off. Got in the water (after checking on the boat of course), cranked up the dock, readjusted everything, and tightened it back down. Now we have about 8 inches to spare. Nice thing about this is that the water is a little warmer now than in the spring (no waders!!). Hoping to get out on the mighty Minne at least one day this weekend. Weather looks good both days. Will report if I get out.

Real slow day of fishing! Fished Lyman tday and was only able to scrape up a few perch, few gillz and a few crappies. At least the crappies were in the 11 1/2" range. Fish were all released, after a couple of pics with the girls. Did enjoy the clearing weather, and nice grill session at the park.

Slow on Mighty Minne Sunday. Out from 0600-1300. 1 SMB, 1 LMB, and 1 ever-present NP. Got so slow I hit the rockpile and a main lake point with live bait. Caught about 8 nice size gills. Had one on near the boat when a large Walter came up to take a swipe at it but must of saw the boat and re-submerged. Saw the white tip of the tail. looked like a nice 4-5 pounder.

Did mighty minne Yesterday from 3:30-dark with Sherpa. Pretty solid night of fishing, except still no walleyes. One of these days I'm going to get one out of there, until then I'll just keep on trying. Got to watch some otter action from mr. Otter. He was on the shallow rock area between the four buoy eating something. We were able to get pretty close, seemed like a nice size animal loving life. Also watched bait fish boiling at the surface as crappies were in attack mode. Caught about half a dozen nice size crapps, 2 nice 17" smallies, 2 largies 14" and a smaller one, and some nice gillz. Sherpa got snapped off once (prolly a NP). Crappies have been turning on, on a few different lakes now. Kept 3 crappies for Sherpas mom, and released all other fish. I hope the ice fishing season (Fin too many tourneys) doesn't harm the fish population this winter. I'm looking to put my permanent on minne. Later

Hit minnie yesterday from 11-5. Very very windy conditions. Had an awesome day and caught my biggest fish I've ever caught out there. 32" 9.3# pike. Very fun to reel in and got a quik snap and off he went back to the drink. Also caught 3 largies 13 14" range, 3 other small pike, and a few blue gillz. Had a fun day with good company. We also grilled out at the park. Don't know where I'll be today, but will get back. Later

Good going Jarrid. My biggest pike down there was 10lbs on a spring scale. Caught it off the dock with a large 5 o' Diamonds. I was using it because the three pounders were swallowing everything else too deep. I got down there Saturday around 1000. Saw the whitecaps and decided to catch up on the chores. Lowered the dock back down so my bumpers would work again, aired out the boat, and trimmed back a bunch of trees. Saw that the wind started laying down (sorta) around 1600. No 'eyes though huh? Did you try any deeper point edges or were you just fishing the shallows? Got a few days off over Labor Day and will hit it as hard as possible.

Yessir. Black Lund Rebel with white ford explorer. We were at the gas station getting ice before our outting (my beautiful girl, the dog, and me). Next time stop and say hi, Now that you know what my rig looks like. Fished a short day on nebagemon from about 2-5:30. Boated plenty of blue gills and perch, and 1 largie 15". Did not even try for walleyes. Bre wanted to just catch pannies, so that's what we did. Still a breezy lake, but not as bad as Minnie yesterday. Oh yeah ALERT.........I should probably do my part and mention there is a missing person in the area. Seen the flyer at Oleys.

Raider, I've thrown everything at those Minnie Walters. I've tried dead drifting, trolling, working deep weed edges and windblown points/drop offs. The walleyes gods are not helping me out there. But someday I'll get one. Raider you should throw me an email on what's worked for you, and I'll hit you up on some tricks that have worked for me on the largies and smallies. Maybe we should get out there one of these days and go fishing together. I'm planning on putting my permey ice house out there this winter. Talk to guys later.

PP, my Mother-In-Law is on the west side about three cabins south of The Acres.

Jarrid, I will e-mail you on tactics. Getting together with me is problematic. I am on "Eternal Call" with the job and at times I have to drop everything and skeedaddle. That's what makes having a place down at Minnie nice. 45 minutes from work and about 30 from the hospitals. Like I said, I will drop you a line shortly.

Jarrid, I brag about "owning" Minnesuing, especially for walleyes, but this year I can count all the walleyes I've caught(not kept) on one finger. None of us locals, at least the ones I talk to, have had success with walleye this summer. So don't feel bad. On the bright side, there will be that many more fish for next year.

Raider, I'll have to look you up next time I'm out. I assume you'll be pitching top water, eh?

Thanks for the email raider, I sent one back at ya. Poacher I hear ya on the walleye bite out there. Til now raider is the only one I'd heard of catching any. And I thought there would be a bunch more now that the dnr raised the bag limit from 2 to 3. It weird because I have had a great year on nebaggie eyes but nothing on Minnie. I'll keep on trying and just so were all clear, I love catch and release to catching for future fishing. Later guys, see ya on the water. Poacher what are you driving out ther in case I see ya. I'll throw ya a wave! I'm in a black Lund

PP, yessiree Bob, I fish topwater opener to the bitter end if the conditions are good. So, I own the lake this year with a combined 34 inches of 'eye (2 fish)? Great. You guys really have to work harder. I don't want the Walleye crown. I want the SMB Crown and I don't think my 18 incher will hold up. I hope to get at least two solid days out there this weekend. Weather and work permitting. I'm "off" Friday-Monday so we will see.

Good luck and good fishing gentlemen.

PP, it's a beige Crestliner 1750 Fish Hawk SC with an Evinrude 115 hanging off the back (at least I think so, I never go in the back of the boat, except to add oil. Apparently I have a mount for a depthfinder back there too. Wow, learn something new everyday). If you're out, buzz over.

Raider, I'd be that guy in a older puke yellow BlueFin (similar to a crestliner) w/50hp OMC. I could pay for a new boat, or pay for 2 kid's tuition. I figger if I take take of them, they won't be so eager to ignore me in my old age. I kinda consider it an investment for my retirement.(that and I shouldn't have any free loading 30 year olds mooching off me since they're both going into "in demand" fields.)

Your smally crown has been usurped by a 19.5" I caught working the narrows in early June for 'eyes. Lotsa fun, but really frustrating when you're angling for dinner.

Jarrid, you can call me "rosie" blush

If a green Chevy excab (a retired MN DNR truck) is in the lot, I'm out there somewhere.

Tushay (probably spelled wrong). Those weekend warriors are nothing but a headache when I'm out there wetting lines. Went to nebagemon on Sunday and it was a zoo filled with recreational skiiers tubers wetbikes swimmers etc etc. Now that I think of it I only saw like 2 other boats actually fishing. I bet there were like 6 boats pulling somthing. Good fishing friends

You guys hitting the water this weekend? I'm going to take the "never enuff" out on the south shore one last time before I put it away and probably take the little boat out after some crappies and then put that one away for the year. That will leave the duck boat left. After this weekend I will be in full hunting mode. Other then a couple more trips to the Brule. Good luck and be safe this weekend

Hit Minnesuing today from 0830-1445 (waited until it hit 40 degrees outside). It was OK at best. Caught about 10 LMB with not a whole lot of size to 'em. Also caught three NP. Split 'em almost in half between a Zara Spook and a Husky Jerk. Tried a frog in the afternoon. Had about 5 nice blow ups but no hook ups. What I noticed was that you only had one shot at them with the frog. Even if they missed it completely, I couldn't get them to come back for whatever reason.
